Comments:
It will do just about anything I have successfully done with this unit.

The only exception to this machine is while using the dubbing mode (from vhs to dvd, have not tried the dvd to vhs mode) you cannot pause the dvd during dubbing, at least what I have read in the owners manual. You can only start and stop. It will only transfer what is exactly on the source tape and transfer directly to dvd with no options. I was able to use an external vhs player connected to this unit and had no problems capturing from this external source to the recorder and end result was excellent, I am quite happy.

I also have my cable box connected to it and recordings are just as good as my other projects, no problems here. Excellent.

Too bad that this does not have DL capabilities, but if it did, this would
would really be an outstanding unit, and you could expand your high quality recording time to 4 hrs instead of just 2 hrs!!!
Remember, the longer the recording time used, the quality of the video is reduced.

I have only use the 2 hr recording mode at this time and playback quality is excellent. I have used both types of dvd's and no problems here, but would recommend using RW's for your 1st test trials, as you can always go back and do your final discs on regular dvd's after you experiment with the RW's. RW's give you more options to work with before your final recordings and you can erase them after you are done! Yes, my computer had no problems ripping dvd's this unit produced to video files on my hard drive. I am very happy with this Christmas present.

Believe it or not this unit, once you understand how it works, is a very easy and simple unit to operate. In fact it's so basic that it really only needs two items to know and it's a breeze using it. Again, I am very happy with this christmas present.

It only took me a couple of go rounds with it after reading the book and playing with it, but once you understand and get the hand of it's operation, it's a snap!

I would recommend this unit to anyone who is interested in an easier option for vhs to dvd conversions.
