This Magnavox DVD recorder is pretty good for the price $98.00,plus tax at WALMART ! so far ,so good ..it played all my DVD-rs i recorded on my LITE ON 5005 from years ago ...And it RECORDS just about any brand of Blank DVD R you can imagine, i've tried GQ ,Maxell,Memorex ,Verbatim ,Fuji,TDK ,Sony & KHypermedia with no trouble at all!! Oh just remember there is NO TUNER in this recorder ,it is a Line in recorder only ..so to record off tv or cable you will need a Digital converter box for over the air TV ,and for Cable youll need a converter box or DVR box from your local CABLE company ..The features are basic ,the menus are simple and basic.It has many speeds , from 2 hr mode up to 6 hours record time! For $98.00 it gets the job done !!!!

The menu for set-up is very straight forward. The recording options are 1hr, 2hr, 2.5hr, 3hr, 4hr, and 6hr on a dvd-/+r(w). Funai does recommend verbatim media as their top choice. This unit does what it is supposed to do, work as a recorder for an external tuner. I'm using it connected to my digital cable box.

$98 at super-walmart; no tuner, but seems to have all the basic recording functions. The manual (from funai .pdf) seems to have many more options in rec speed, and editing. Got one on 04/01/08, but haven't had time to try it out. oh, you can get a 3 yr warranty for $14 too.
