| After having terrible problems with a Cyberhome DVD recorder, this Lite-On DVD recorder has been great! I have had NO problems playing or recording on Verbatim DVD+R; DVD-DL; or DVD+RW media. When working on my computer, I typically use DVD Decrypter; DVD Shrink 3.2; or if copyright protection is a real problem, then DVD Fab Decrypter works fine for copying commercial DVD's of movies. I usually make ISO files of the DVD movies and then burn the ISO file to a blank single layer or dual layer DVD disc with DVD Decrypter. I also edit DVD's with Intervideo WinDVD Creator 3.0. All of the DVD's that I've produced using these methods have played without any problems on the Lite-On DVD recorder. I've also played VCD, SVCD, DivX, XviD, MP3 and WMA audio music on DVD's and CD's without any problems. For the low price, you can't beat it. |

This machine has played everything I've tried so far, including mutiple avi movies burned to dvd-r. The tv tuner seems to get poor reception, I intend to try better quality cables.
There is no digital display.
Next I am going to transfer camcorder tapes and will update.
So far I'm very satisfied considering the price. |

| Bought it for its price and versatility. Easy to use, so far plays everything I've put into it, including -r's +r's +rDL's, and region 2 PAL dvds (thanks for the hack listed here!). One major problem though is the poor quality of the a/v connectors. I've been archiving my old vhs tapes and many of them (mostly it seems the lighter ones, i.e. made from less dense plastic) result in a jumpy image on screen when viewed and recorded - but if I plug the vcr directly into the tv it looks fine. I looked around and found people on other forums complain about this. I did manage to figure out a workaround by sending the vcr signal through my digital camcorder and into the firewire jack on the recorder. That took care of the problem perfectly but of course it's only worth it if you already have a digital camcorder. It was cheap enough though ($85) so that I might get a better dvd recorder and use this as a player. |

$84 at Best Buy....can't go wrong with that.
Went to Liteon website downloaded and upgraded the firmware.
TV signal input & output is cable or composite...
Recording TV worked fine.
DVD out has composite or component.
DVD Picture looks great.
Used Nero to burn DIVX video on computer to view on TV.
Windows burning software didn't work with Liteon DVD Recorder.

Inexpensive and relatively easy to use DVD Recorder. Small footprint. Has VCR+, DIVX and Dolby Digital recording and many other features. Menus are not very intuitive and take time to set up. Best record is direct from live source. Seem to be experiencing some audio/sync issues with my DVR on playback. Lots of connectors has digital coax out and component out. Audio l/r for inputs. Overall pleased with the unit. Hear that Lite-on is leaving the retail market though so this may be a limited item.
Best to use Verbatim DVD+R Dual layer; my Memorex units tend to have some minor but annoying issues. |
