I bought this recorder for two things: 1. to play my DivX/XviD movies - It plays all of my XviD and DivX movies ! 2. to convert my VHS library to DVD - Very easy to record from my VCR to DVD or HDD HQ and SQ recording are very good. LQ is not that great and that's why I gave it 9.

I have noticed the following problem consistently occurring: * There's a recording on DVD disc (not the HDD) in SQ mode. Not sure if other modes are affected the same way. * This is dubbed to the HDD using the "Fast" option. * With the copy now on the HDD, fast forwarding at 2x or higher beyond around 27 or 28 minutes into the show results in the picture freezing and not being able to fast forward. Playback is OK. Other than this, there's a few minor bugs but nothing that annoy me. Overall, pretty happy with the unit, it's recording quality and its usability.
