My wife bought this unit for me after we had been using another manufacturers hard drive recorder. The LG unit was expensive and we were assured it would offer the feature set we were looking for. Well, I am sad to say that we were sorely disappointed. There were a number of shortcomings that were more than just annoying - they were downright intrusive. I contacted LG to find out if there were any firmware upgrades for example to resolve these issues and was basically told that this is the way the device worked and that thsi is how all hard drive recorders were. Thinking that perhaps we had got through to the wrong person, we took the unit back to the place we bought it with a list of our gripes and asked them to have it checked out. It came back 3 weeks later WITHOUT 1 THING ON OUR LIST RESOLVED. In my opinion, this hard drive is one to be avoided. Our list of disadvantages are: * If you are watching a show you previously recorded and the recorder is set to record a new show, this player just stops playing and jumps to the new show that is about to be recorded. * To make the above issue even more annoying, with other players, typically you can resume from where you got to before. Not this one! You have to start from the beginning and forward on to the place you were before manually! If you were 2.5 hours into a 3 hour movie, that takes about 5 minutes! * You cannot delete a show that you have recorded if it is in the middle of recording another show. So you have to try to REMEMBER the shows you want to delete and come back later to delete these. * Despite setting that chapter markers should be put in every 10 minutes, this never worked.
