Tediously slow to do anything on this machine. Logging on Discs, formatting etc. Locks up occasionally. Ramdisk pixelates after playing for a short while and, more recently, it stops recording after 25 minutes, the display flashes 'Loading' for a couple of minutes and then it carries on recording for another 25 minutes.
Audio CD quality is its only saving grace, but not enough to buy it.
Would not buy another and would not recommend it. |

Have had this for about a month now and it is very good. Setting up times ect. is very easy.
Did have some trouble with the format of DVD's that it liked but White Label and Ridisc video reel DVD's work excellent |

(From North Italy)
I bought it on 24 October 2003 and I tried it with DVD-RW (Video mode - very good). When I tried it with DVD-Ram, after about 1 hour, there were several problems with "mosaic effect" probaly due (I think) to some problem with the optical alignment.
So, after 5 days, I replaced it with another one (here in Italy you have only eight days to test, after that you do not have any possibility to refund it or to change it) and I hope not to have the same problem (in this case I will re-vote).
Anyhow, with the new one I tried DVD-Ram of JVC (no problem, good quality till 4 hours), DVD-RW of Fuji (no problem, in VR and Video mode, good quality, and about 90-180 seconds to finalize), DVD-RW of Datawrite 2x (green type) and I had some problem only with DV connections in the last 15 minutes; no problem with other case.
With Optodisk DVD-RW (2 disks) I had many problems (after half sisk, it is impossible to continue, it is impossible to finalize, and I had to disconnect the DVD Recorder to electricity to continue).
So, my conclusion now, is that the quality is not only depended by the DVD Recorder but especially by the disk type.
I am very interested in other media-type (especially DVD-RW).
Excuse me for my English

Took a DRM1 on trial from Richer sounds. Good points are its flexibility and the high quality picture in 1 and 2 hr modes. Bad points are its huge times (13 minutes) to finalise a disk, the 30 second wait to drop out of record and the very poor soft quality picture at 6hr mode.
Trying to create copies on my pc afterwards is a bit of a nightmare and added to the fact that the DRM1 deletes chapter points on disc finalisation it ended up going back!
Replaced it with the Phillips DVDR70 which although not as flexible had none of the above faults and even at 6hr mode produced a VHS quality picture. Also discs did not need finalising to play elsewhere and copied instantly on the PC.
The Phillips was also £115 pounds less!! |

| High quality recordings. It's true the cooling fan stays on all the time - even in standby mode. Is this normal? The biggest problem for me is that it's impossible to rip the DVDs you create with it to edit them on a computer. I've tried all the rippers, and they all fail before they get to the end. If anyone can solve this for me I'd be very grateful. |

you need just matrox rt2500 between the to machine and go ahead to record the film on dvd
