I bought this unit thinking I could read divx/xvid files. This recorder cannot do that. It cannot read a .avi file, and I need to encode all .avi files with Nero Vision Express to be able to see it. However, any file burned with Nero is playable and this recorder is easy to use.

This is an EXCELLENT DVD recorder . I have owned 4 previously with all types of disc error problems. The unit has Component in/out when others similar simply have output only for progressive scan. The unit accepts all current discs available X8 X4 X2 and no problems encountered when using +RW discs. The lines of resolution are also very good. There are 540 lines of crisp, clear images. I love this machine and would recommend it first and foremost to the new person buying for the first time. An EXCELLENT system. Price is also great, now selling at $ 139.00
