| mine installed cleanly first time using scart. controller confusing and takes a while to understand. fast forward etc a pain to use. need to use the "make compatible" option before dvds will play back on my other dvd players. But once that is done, everything works, every time. Have not tried removing adverts yet, nor copying onto pc. astonishing price from a leading uk Supermarket. |

Am I missing something but I am on my third machine and none will install properly. Nothing appears on TV screen when attempting set up. Tried Alba 0870 number but left hanging on for 20 minutes or more with no response. Sent them an email but no reply. Am using coax from aerial to recorder and coax out to TV. Also tried SCART with no joy. Manual does not specify which TV channe to use but have used search on TV tuning and nothing appears anywhere. Am I unlucky and have had 3 dud machines?. Sainsbury are very patient in supplying replacements but I am getting very frustrated.

| if you reco0rd a programe of say sky it will not play on any other dvd player which is a bit of a bummer unless anyone knows how i cannot work it out also it takes a while to start up and record |

Thanks for the comments Pigget. Whilst I understand frustrations at not being able to do this and that with the Alba player, I think you are expecting way too much from a ludicrously cheap machine.
If it records and plays back tv programs with watchable quality then, this in itself is amazing for less than a £100! I would fully expect a crap remote on a machine this cheap to costs down.
If something looks too good to be true, it probably is, in spite of the price/peformance of budget kit constantly improving. Also the latter point is only a good thing if you ignore the 3rd world labor that is obviously exploited to manufacture goods this cheap. |

Have tested this recorder with +r`s and +rw`s...
My opinion overall is that this is totally CRAP!!!!
Remote Handset is a nightmare...
There is a video scart throughput delay...around 2 to 3 seconds(press play on video...the picture on the dvd channel plays 3 seconds later....
Unit is very slow...
Ugly unit facia...
mind of its own when recording and splitting files...!
when recorded 4 hrs of home video..looked on main menu and it split it into an 1hr4min slot...2hr15mins slot etc 4 times..
tried to copy over to PC with dvdshrink...reported error
tried dvddecrypter...in file mode only recognized the first split of 1hr4mins...and in ifo mode found all of them,but had to rip them seperatley...
then used numerous progs to attatch them all together so i could then cut into proper segment...video was only showing as under a minute and crashing the software...
Nightmare Machine...
No,No,No.
All this from taking back my liteon 5005 with its jitter probs and failed finalizings...
I Am considering getting back the Liteon....
