N/A 9 of 10 Comments: Great system, from what I have read it is better than the 880, thou lacks in the mp3 department. Good helpline service too. As for playback on recorded discs it covers most. Definitely plays back Philips R+/RW. I thought it was a bit choosey on the brand of media, but it was human error perventing it to work. Used DVDDecrypter Ifoedit Nero 5.10 (latest runs out on the 31st Jan), use video mode rather than UDF/ISO(does not work) burns in 30mins (x2) Philips228 DVD+R/RW burner other media used out there? get in on here!!!

CVD? $900 N/A 8 of 10 DivX MPEGISO Comments: The best way to rip DVD for this player is to create an SXVCD with res of 720x480 (ntsc) or 720x577 (pal) 2300 kbps and 224 kbps sound and then using TMPGEnc (MPEG Tools..) convert header to MPEG-1 Video (see VCD Header Trick).. The quality is SUPERB then.

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: ive tested the player using nero to burn svcd and vcd. vcd [played perfectly giving excellent qality considerin limitations of vcd. i tested svcd, picture quality great but the sound is not to good. the sound problem mayve been my fault. plaay dvds cripsly only thing it really lacks is mp3 support. Apart from that one disappointment, superb player with superb design.

N/A No rating Comments: I have the sa 800, now my question is: i have a digital camcorder so i need to make movies (final cut pro 3 on apple) but is there any possibiltie to burn my movie to a cd instead of a dvd? i like to keep the maximum quality, and most of the time our personal movies arend much longer than 10 a 15 minutes. I have heard that minidvd doesnt work even as svcd?

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Tested with a VCD I burnt from DVD using dup-dvd on Data-Safe 80 min CDR's. It worked find and the quality when played is pretty good all things considered. I also tested the machine with DVD+Rw discs, worked perfectly. The DVD+RW disc I used was a Verbatim 4.7Gb. I tried SVCD also, but it won't work.

N/A 9 of 10 Comments: On some of my home made VCD, I have reduced the audio bitrate to give the video more bitrate, or to help the film fit on one VCD. On my Pioneer525 these play fine but on the Sony S800 the audio will drift out of sync with the video - not much but noticable. Other than that, a wonderful piece of kit. Adam

If you have any suggestions about CDR/CD-RW brands that this player have no problems with, let me know... Furthermore I want to buy a DVD-R or DVD-RW player. At this moment probably I have to buy a Pioneer CD-RW to play my back-ups for the SAV-800. Do you have any comments? I apreciated it very much! Grtz, Peter

N/A 8 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD Comments: Hi, Hope to be of any help. I have tested CDR's, no problem whatsoever! I have tested CD-RW, no problem except close your session. That's important, otherwise it won't work! I have used 650Mb Philips CD-RW with Audio-CD using Nero. First time was a hit! Perfect... Burned a XVCD on whatever CDR and it works but there where some hick-ups (in the sound). Video is great! I used 2550 because it would be possible to use a max. of 2600 according to VDCHELP.COM. Syncronizing still was ok. I read that 2300 works ok. Haven't tested it yet. If this is the max. kbit/s for video I may get around of the hicking sound. Does anyone have this tested yet? What is the max. kbit/s for SAV-800? Furthermore perfect player. I love it (especially the design). Grtz. Peter Note: Come on SAV-800 owners, tell us your story!

N/A 9 of 10 Comments: DVD-RW's are a pain in the ass to play. Sometimes you need to eject them out and put them back in about 20 times. It keeps saying Disk is Dirty when the disk is clean. They WILL EVENTUALLY play if you're persistant. Have tried many different brands of DVD-R, and only Princo DVD-RW's, but hope to get some other brands to try.

N/A 8 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD Comments: It has great video and audio quality. I bought it just for the design. Fits great with my JVC AV32 home theatre! Too bad it has few compatebility, SVCD and MP3 wont play. I played some vcd and they all worked. The SACD that comes with it is awesome. Also dolby 5.1 compateable movies works fine.

It plays without problem VCD, XVCD(all resolutions accepted up to 2600 cbr), DVD-r(tested pioneer media), SACD(incredible acoustic experience).It seems to have great compatibility with cdr-rw media(tested also magnex lp 90'). It doesn't recognize SVCD,MINIDVD and MP3 formats. Very expensive(1280 Euro) but if you can afford it, get it!! Best regards doctor crazy
