| We bought this machine as a special offer in 2001 and it has performed well. The only criticism is that we have problem getting a good sound level, however this may be because it needs 5.1 surround sound which we don't possess at this time. The first hack worked at first attempt and we play all region DVD's now. |

Contrary to a previous comment, DVD-RW work fine for me. Bulkpaq Orange DVD-R temperamental recognition/playback of video elements, even though the discs play fine on PC drives.
There is a minimum bitrate for MP3s to be recognised - 128 I think. |

At the time it was a bargain, seems less so now with the unbelievable slide in DVD player prices over the last 12 months.
Have just tested with DVD-R and it's fine. DO NOT use DVD+RW as it thinks it's an audio CD and may blow your TV speakers! |

I bought this, a Zenix Z 2001 S as a buy it now option on ebay for £39 + £12.93 p&p as a player for my daughter's bedroom. It's a great bargain, so much so I bought another one for my bedroom a week later. Although advertised as a Zenix, the second one turned up branded Haus H 2001 S. They are exactly the same, apart from the small logo branding on the front and on the remote and on screen when you switch on. Same hacks can be used as well.
Quality is very good through the SCART (I think S stands for SCART, as some Zenix and Haus models do not come with SCART sockets on the back). The only slight drawback is the mains power on/off button is on the back of the player, if you intend to put it in a cabinet. It has phono video, audio out as well.
Looking at the Zenix web site (http://www.zenix-electronics.com), the 2001, I think is described as the Z200L. There is a picture there.
I'm tempted to put this in my living room instead of my Toshiba 100E, which plays VCD cut on CDR but requires a deep blue dye CD, which can be difficult to obtain. The Zenix is not that fussy. |

| This is good second player, The picture quality of DVD play back is not as good as the more expensive players more noticeable on big screen TVs the sound and video tend to go out of sync slightly. VCD and SVCD playback is excellent however far better than the Logix3000 which I also tried and considering this is why I bought it I would say £90 isn't to bad for a good VCD player and an average DVD player. |

I also bought this from Jungle.com for 92 pounds inc it's my first dvd player so i can't compare with previous buys, however going on comments from other users this appears to be a very good budget purchase compared to other more expensive players. It has played everything so far and is easy to make into a multi region player. There is no Scart lead included so this is another fiver at least to the cost it also has a rather tacky remote control.
Jungle.com delivered this item in less than 48 hrs so i'm very pleased at the moment,if i go for second player i may but this again or go for the even cheaper Dansai 852 which is 85 quid from Tesco with a Scart lead included. |

So it looks like bye-bye to my old trusty problematic Samsung 709! This player does the works, VCD/MP3 on CDR/CDRW pose no problems with any brands I try....unlike the Samsung that was VERY fussy!
Tried 5 different brands of CDRW with no problems. If you're into multi-region DVD then this is easily hackable . |

I have tried a variety of media from expensive to 15p discs from computer fairs, written at various speeds using Nero.I have yet to encounter a problem with any disc ie. MP3, VCD, CDR, CDRW,AUDIO, AUDIO backup or oiginal DVD. I have also produced JPEG slideshows with backing tracks and these work fine.
I was one of those lucky enough to get the Dansai 852 from Tesco and purchased this as a second machine, plus a further two for family members. It is very close to the spec of the Dansai and can be purchased from
www.jungle.com for £89 |
