| So Far so good. I purchased the Sanyo's one before, actually Zenith is far more better than Sanyo's combo. Zenith play my burnd DVD very well, and other DVDs very well. And also you could try the vcd crack, that one works. Some of the VCR player and VCR/DVD combo player does not provide the 2 audio output, but Zenith does provide this! Very good one, strongly recommend. I purchased from Circuitcity. |

So far, I have been very pleased with the player. The VCR menu is a little unintuitive, but the DVD player section kicks butt. The VCD function is not enabled by default from the factory, but the hack used for the Zenith DVB412 works just fine for the XBV442. I've played RITEK R03, RICOHJPNR01, MAXELL002 and CMC MAG E01 media on the unit with no problems whatsoever, and have used a few Memorex DVD-Rs and DVD+RWs with no issues. I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a nice, low-priced, high-feature DVD/VCR combo.
I'm glad I bought this machine, and what better compliment is there for a product?
Now, if only I can find a Macrovision hack for it... I'd have given it a 10 if I knew of one. |

For $99 an excellent deal. Plus it has a separate button for FF and rev of DVD, unlike some players that use one button for FF/REV and Chapter skip.
Worked with 16x DVD+R, 8X DVD+R, 4X DVD+RW, and 2.4X DVD+RW discs. All Memorex. |

| I am very happy with this player. It plays mp3 files very well. It has long file name support, and also also can random play mp3 files. You can also enter a playlist, but you can't save it. It does not seem to support m3u lists. You can also repeat a song. YOu can record from dvd to vcr, but it does have macrovision so you can only copy disks which are not copy protected. It has a nice feature called commercial skip on the vcr, which fast forwards 30 sec each time you hit it. |

| Bonus feature, the clock sets itself!! Great for your technically challenged in-laws or grandparents. Plays all but one brand of DVD-R without a problem. Simple to set up (RF, composite or component video/audio) even with old TV and stereo equipment. The remote is simple and can be used for both the player and your TV. This is really the perfect tabletop combo for the average non-techie person. |
