CVD? $? over 1 year 9 of 10 Comments: Just tried a DVD+R DL Verbatim disc burned with ImgBurn on a NEC ND-3520. Works great!

CVD? $150 over 1 year 7 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-JPG Comments: Bought this player due to hype. Have used this player to play back-up dvd with moderate success until........ Lately, freezes and dropouts frequently occur on various media that previouly always played.....and were burned on the same writers as before. I did flash the player to enable 1080i coversion through component but very hard to see any improvement, if any at all. Videohelp.com has been helpful in determining some things among which is I should have bought a better player. My old Toshiba 3960 plays anything/everything thrown at it!!!!!! But my son won't give it back!!!! I will soon replace this overhyped Zenith/LG.

CVD? $175 2 days 10 of 10 Comments: For HDTV users with DVI, look no further than this player. Upconverts to 1080i wonderfully. I would compare the picture to the HBO HD channel. Firmware changes allow for upconversion through component video which they don't make anymore for legal reasons. And with correct settings you can also play SVCD's. Also converts PAL to NTSC right out of box which I really like and they also look great on my Mit 55 inch WS55313. I did alot of research on upconverting DVD players and this one is always on top. Don't even waste time looking to see what Toshiba or Samsung have to offer in that dept. Upconverting to 1080i is the only way to go until HD-DVD comes out, and for about 160 shipped, the price is right and this is the best.

CVD? $? 7 days 1 of 10 Comments: I bought this player cause my tv doesn't have a DVI connection. I wanted to make use of the up-convesion and needed a player that did it through component. The "March" build date was accurate and it does up-convert through component. However, the player seems to have a lot of problems making black BLACK. In a field of black, like say in Batman, there is a lot of macro-blocking. The rest of the picture looks fine. I tried the 480P through component and found the same problem and also there were haze lines going through the picture. The 480P s-video connection seems fine. That's not why I bought it so, I'm off to list it on e-bay.

Video looks great, almost as good as a 1080i HD broadcast. Will play anything I gave it. Does not play SVCD out of the box put there is a hack that will enable SVCD to be played. They also look great at 1080i.

CVD? $175 2 days 10 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-JPG DivX Comments: This player upconverts to 1080i via DVI AND Component. The Zenith DVB318 stomps my Panasonic RP56 for image quality. SVCD looks fabulous on my HDTV. Will post again when I have more time to test.
