CVD? $70 N/A No rating DVD-RAM Comments: I bought this thing about 3-4 months ago. It worked great with dvd- and vcds after the hack and it was great for the price. But out of nowere, I was watching a movie. And the audio starting going on and off. It does it with everything I put in it now, dvd- vcds and regular dvds. I dunno what to do with the thing now so I guess Im gonna need to buy another one. Word to the wise: buy the longer waranty on this item! IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM PLEASE EMAIL ME. thanks.

MP3 WMA CVD? $? 180 days 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: Would anyone happen to know if this player is able to play SACDs and DVD audio discs. I noticed that there was a designated light for SACDs, I have yet to try one. I was hoping that someone would have a hack. Other than that, this dvd player is great for the price!!

N/A 10 of 10 Comments: Played pretty much everything I threw at it. VCDs and SVCDs through the hack and one can find region hacks that work. Package is better than most cheap players. DVD+VRs came out single channel audio when encoded PCM and delayed with AC3. Might just be the encodin'. Definitely worth it for the money.

CVD? $80 N/A No rating Comments: (Using Fugi +R, Philips +RW, constructed with both Sonic Foundry/Sony DVD Architect and Adobe Encore, reportedly with Sonic Scenarist (max compatability) render engine.) Would play +R and +RW media, but the audio and video were out of synch. Cut off first second or so of main video and first play. Looks cool, doesn't play well. Strongly reccomend taking a sample disk to the store and trying it. Store people know very, very little. You'll be on your own. Best players I have found yet for +R and +RW are Philips players. That's about it. I had an RCA that played +R well, but not +RW's at all. I have also seen Playstation 2's play +R well.)

N/A 7 of 10 DVD-MP3 MPEGISO Comments: This is a good looking progressive unit that also plays most formats of recordable DVD (DVD-R, DVD+R?, DVD +-RW). I was looking for a new DVD unit and I wanted progressive since my new TV has the required (component) inputs to hook it up. Unfortunately, it doesn't have one feature that is important to me. It cannot read raw mpg files. I record a lot of home movies and write them in mpg format since it is faster and takes up less space on the disc. When I put that disk in my Apex DVD player they show up like files on a hard drive. I just select and go. Not pretty but it works great. I record shows for my son and edit out the commercials and write them to DVD in mpg format. I find that I can get about 13 half hour shows on one DVD in that format. Nearly 5 hours of shows (after the commercials are removed). So, with regret, I will be returning the unit. Now, if that is not important to you, I would certainly recommend it for the price. It looks good and I could not find any problems with the picture, sound, or function. It is on sale at Circuit City for $69 with a $10 rebate until 11/15.

CVD? $80 N/A 7 of 10 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: I bought this because this forum says it supports ID3 tags and long file names. Well, it DOESN'T. Hopefully the moderator can make this change. On the other hand, the remote hack worked perfectly to get SVCD's to work. No problems I can see. Really a great player for the money. DVD+RW with mp3's work very well. File names are truncated though. Another gripe is that you cannot put folders into the playlist. On my apex I could check the folders to play. Not so here. Overall a good player though.

CVD? $80 N/A 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: everything works great but could not play vcd/svcd until i tried the remote hack trick and things works fine since. Does not autoplay vcd/svcd though. but very minor problem, you can press play on the remote to start it. good buy for the price.

You need to do the remote control hack to play vcd/svcd's, but the dvd-r vcd's and svcds work out of the box!
