CVD? $70 300 days No rating JPG/JPEG Comments: A cheap but OK prerecorded DVD playback machine. NOT for user burned DVDs. This is a quote from their customer services: "The thing is, is that this unit will not play "burned" DVD's, just regular DVD movies They are not kidding. Skips and hangs are common on all recordable DVD formats. I tried various brands of media, different recording speeds and even the bitsetting for DVD-ROM. Nothing works consistently. Beware that the VHS "record" button is right next to the "stop" button on the remote.

CVD? $150 over 1 year 7 of 10 DVD-MP3 Comments: Plays DVD/VHS fine. VHS Player is awesome - really fine tracking so even the jumpiest of video tapes play correctly if recorded on another lower quality unit that might not have the heads working correctly. Tried DVD-R and DVD+R and so far most have skipped in either the beginning/end of the movie - it really depends on the situation. If you backup with menus it can crash out of the menu and then you can play the movie by pushing the Play button. It's touch and go and the unit really doesn't work well with DVDR media of any variety from what I can tell. These same movies play fine in the computer, a Polaroid DVD-Player I also own, and X-Box.

CVD? $100 N/A 8 of 10 MP3 long filename DivX DVD-RAM Comments: had problems using 2.4x dvd+r media, but when i used 4x dvd+r media, no problems....2.4x dvd+r media caused skipping/freezes....used dvdshrink and recordnow as well as dvd decrypter..also ulead mf2...no problems with 4x dvd+r media...

MP3 WMA CVD? $100 N/A 8 of 10 JPG/JPEG MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: tried memorex dvd+R and ultra dvd-r neither would work authored with dvdx copy and dvd shrink, neither would work.It plays about 1/3 throogh and then goes crazy and stops playing. it will play cdr's with mp3 or jpeg picture quality of dvd player was great. vcr was okay .

CVD? $125 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: I got one yesterday from Bestbuy. It's manufactured in May 2003. Did the VCD & SVCD hack as described by the other posts. I can play both VCD and SVCD fine, but couldn't get fast forward/backward function to work for VCD from the remote control. Every time I press the >>| button, the VCD will stop playing. That's my only gripe; otherwise, it's an excellent player for the money.

I have tested the PAL->NTSC conversion and it is basically flawless. VCD/SVCD requires hack.

I have no VCDs to check it out myself. Works with a range of CD-R media, including 80 min.
