CVD? $5 over 1 year 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-JPG MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG DivX XviD DVD-MPEGISO Comments: Got it 3 years ago from my neighbour as a dead unit. due to the powersupply bug the drive was blown (ROHM spindle driver). Months later I bought another player on ebay for 1 Euro only to get the replacement chip. After powersupply and drive repair the player has been working flawlessly for 3 years. It's a Raite drive at low speed, very quiet with special firmware. as you can see the drive can read basically any media. it only rejects bad/damaged discs that my computers also refuse ;o) picture couldn't better on SCART (RGB Analog output), I'll keep this player as long as it works.

N/A 6 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD Comments: Seems to be a Matsushita-Drive. No luck with DVD+R or DVD+/-RW :-( DVD-R plays fine, either do (S)VCDs.

CVD? $125 N/A 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-MP3 MP3 ID3 TAG DivX MPEGISO Comments: This Player is has the A2 firmware, but with new TOSHIBA 1612 Rev. B DVD-drive and this drive has a special hacked RPC1 Firmware from BOSE - this one is speed reduced for CD-Audio and MP3. So this now 3 years old machine plays really every (!) media and is now very silent (speed reduced drive). I love this thing - firmware without Macrovision is on the internet avaliable :(www.linkpatrouille.de/yamakawa.htm) and if the drive dies - replace it simply with a good PC dvd-drive - and run again !

Just burned a lot of MP3 to DVD, same as I do when using CD's, using Nero Burning Rom (various versions)

With the original 3F-FW you can play nearly any mastered s/vcd. If you upgrade to 2A you loose some of your compatibility (e.g.: with nero mastered svcd's [tested with 5.0 up to 5.5.9.0] they didn't work, but vcd's do). I-Author mastered svcd's play withaout a hitch. You can combine nearly any feature with any format. The player will almost always do it's job. Usually i use XSVCD's (720x576, 25fps, 0 - 3500 - 4600 vbr video, 128kbit audio, mastering with cce and iauthor) on cd-r/w up to 99 min. the player only seems to be able to play shortly after 99min timecode. My longes cd-r was 99:32:.. The player couldn't read the last seconds. With the a2 FW you get a usefull filebrowser. With that you can play any kind of mpeg related file (mp3, mp2, mpa, m1v, m2v, ac3, vob, mpg[DTS-streams i didn't test, but should also work) The videostreams have to be renamed to mpg or vob to be recognized, but will then be played correctly. MiniDVD isn't fully supported, but with the filebrowser you can access vob-files with nearly full features. You can select subs&audiotracks stop and pause the video. But there are also some funktions that won't work in that mode: ffwd frwd zoom. If you have questions about this machine mail me : BerserkerD@gmx.de

CD-RW Media i used Platinum. authoring for svcd / vcd is vcdimager and nero very tolerant on errors in stream no probs on dvd dual-layer even no shortest break dvd-r verbatim dvd authoring with scenarist chapters on vcd 2.0 and svcd 1.0 works great - depending on settings while make the authoring - could select bey key and skip. mpeg iso will generate an internal chpeter overview by making a short screenshot every 10 minutes (depending on firmware).
