MP3 WMA CVD? $175 N/A 5 of 10 DVD-MP3 Comments: very good picture and audio quality. plays every cd/dvd format without problems. unfortunately the player produces a very loud noise while playing cds/dvds. the yamaha service told me, that this noise is "normal" for the player. the noise was disturbing so much that i returned the player to my local store and bought a panasonic s75 (no noise at all.. superb player). i don`t know, why yamaha produces a player with such a nerv-racking noise...

CVD? $300 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Good Picture and sound. I´ve one problem. The only original disc that I have found a problem is Eagles Zone 2 PAL . The picture has some distorsion on progressive scan mode. In standard mode thats ok. Anybody knows?? thank you

N/A No rating DivX DVD-RAM Comments: This is basically a Philips unit, i think a 723 the remote controls are the same. In Svcd mode no FW or rewind possible, difficulties with menu's. Photo CD: no problems at all. DVD with Nero 6 and NEC 1300A no problems at all after installing a ASPI driver - without DVD+RW unreadable!!! Pinnacle instant COPY OK. Used different brands -R +R -RW and +RW everything works !!!!!!!!!

N/A No rating Comments: Further to my Yamaha 540, gave up on it and went back to the Pioneer – Pioneer DV-667A-k. The picture has no noise and this player also supports SACD and DVD Audio. I initially settled on the Yamaha because it matched my Yamaha RX-V2300 receiver.

CVD? $350 N/A 6 of 10 Comments: Got this player last Friday and seems to work well except for intermittent artifacts in the video output. I upgraded from a Pioneer 344. Playing the same DVDs, there are more video artifacts on the new Yamaha compared to the Pioneer. Any ideas why?

Have anybody a solution?? Top player, ich habe allerdings ein Problem beim abspielen von mpegiso streams. Die Zeitanzeige in der linken oberen Ecke läßt sich nicht ausschalten. This Yamaha DVD player is GREAT, plays all the formats i need to play: SVCD,VCD,DVD-+R, SVCD-DVD,MP3-DVD-R/CD-r, Jpeg-CD, Jpeg-DVD, mixed mp3/jpeg on DVD-R and CD-R.. Plays ALL cheap (Princo, LEADDATA)DVD-R media ive had problems with before, no freeze/jump at all =) The store i bought it at said that it plays DVD-Audio, have not got the chance to try it thou. PAL/NTSC Prog-Scan and real PAL/NTSC Conversion, 12bit D/A Conv Gives great picture quality. All theese nice stuff for below 2000SEK [250USD]

It's interesting what philips model adequates Ymaha540 ? I have sears for it and at my opinion Philips dvd728 is nearly yamahas's model(only (progressive can not be found). Philips firmware upgrades must work on this Yamaha but i am still not sure for it

CVD? $200 N/A 9 of 10 MP3 long filename Comments: Love this player sold my Sony NS725P to buy this one for it's region free capability. Has played Arita DVD+R & +RW, Ritek G04 DVD-Rs without any problems. MP3 320KB CBR play ok and it even played my Fourplay DVD-Audio disc albeit through the optical out because it doesn't have the 5.1 analog outputs on the rear panel. MP3 long filename support would have been nice. My Pioneer DV-656A has spoilt me where that feature is concerned and the ability to truly render DVD-Audio via analog would have been a plus but all in all a good buy for my purposes which is watching a ton of Region 3 Shaolin DVDs.

N/A 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: An excellent player for the price, but there are some issues to be aware of: The player displays Standard (Baseline) format JPEG still images fine, but Progressive format JPEGs cause the display to slow down by a factor of about 150:1 on 4-megapixel images. Thus a 3-second display time turns into 8 minutes! My Ulead PhotoImpact and PhotoExplorer image processing software originally defaulted to saving JPEGs in Progressive mode, so I have had to override their defaults to save JPEGs in Standard mode when I crop or edit images in future. When displaying menus of JPEG stills or MP3s, the on-screen menu is Windows Explorer-like. It shows the last 30 characters of the current folder path, and the first 14 characters of each filename, up to 6 filenames per page. If you plan on re-programming this player's remote control into your universal remote, be aware that this Yamaha remote appears to use "parity bits" to minimise keypad bounce problems. This means that when any key is pressed twice in a row, a slightly different code is transmitted each time. The vast majority of universal remotes can only learn one code variation per key, so if you press "1 1" on your universal remote to go to chapter 11, the DVD player will recognise the first "1" but not the second one. Repeating the Down key (or Up etc) while navigating menus can similarly be a problem from the universal remote. Contrary to what the manual says, the player CAN also play UN-finalized CD-RWs.

Very good Picture, Sound. Does not support MP# id tag. Surprisingly it palys MP3 on a DVD Disk. Great Player

CVD? $200 N/A 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-MP3 MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: Worked sweet for MP3s burned on a DVD-RW (havent tried +) played perfectly. Burned the MP3 DVD-RW with nero as a DVD-ISO (joilet screws up...maybe it works better if I try UDF). No ID3 tag support as far as I could see (could have been a 10 in rating if it wasnt for that). Has some wierd feature where it seems to be able to play back DVDRs with bad menues (pointing to nonexistent files and such) dont ask me how it works. Progressive scan for 200USD seems pretty reasonable.
