With the New Age v4 firmware, this player is by far the most versatile player I have come across. The build quality of the player is not great, but what it can do, for the price, is phenomenal.
If you want your first player to be low cost high value, this is it. Then get the New Age v4 firmware.

I'll give my review later so far a question: I upgrade fine to V3a "new age" only problem is that when I leave player overnight and try to run tomorow it locks on "loading". When I turn-off/on then it works fine until next longer pause.
Whats this?
Also, how to change initial password?

Everything works perfectly although:
1) sometimes I get an "Unknown disc", especially DVD-ISO with a lot of things (progs, images, mp3s)
2) I can't seem to find a way to make the Yamada randomly scan a DVD full of MP3 located in different folders: it only scans the folder you're in. This is really annoying.
Haven't upgraded the firmware, still using V1.
Some video end with .avi but the reader tried to play them although the 4CC is not divx; quite silly.

same Xvid files with enabled GMC (extreme!! jerking) or multiple B-Frames(jerking) feature don´t work very well. But there´s no other player on the market which can handle these files.

I've been using the "all"-Player since the first day I'd bought it with the firware of NewAge (rev 3A)
It has (changes) like
- hungarian menu support
(but many other menu lang supp.)
- MP3 ID TAG support
- extended Subtitle support
subs with up to 150 chars in 4 lines
- Subtitle menu - fonts, size, location
- last memory (for volume)
- and some good other developments
I recommend the Player for everyone,
with the firm of New Age (=king of firm. developers) |

| Bought just over a week ago from Novatech for £48.50 inc delivery specifically because of the avi file compatibility. Plays everything I have tried (still some more to try but I can`t see they`ll be any problems) on a variety of discs from budget novatech cd & dvd`s to riteks with several others in between. Couple of discs freeze towards the end, but they have on all the dvd players I`ve tried including the bullet proof pacific ones so that`s a media problem not a player. Had a few issues with avi files but after looking here and upgrading the firmware as suggested that`s all cured. I have to rate this player a 10. This player looks good, it does exactly what it claims to do and above all it`s a lot quieter than any other budget player I`ve bought or seen. Well done yamada and novatech. |

| OGM files are flakey, qpel and gmc XviD it won't touch, that's about it, it has played literally everything else I have thrown at it. Does exactly what it says on the tin, I reckon I've had about 5 files refuse to play out of several hundred I've happily watched. It was hardly a big spend to buy in the first place. Overall I'm a happy customer. |

| Works brilliantly! Only one bad thing is that i cant manage to get the latest firmware update to work can anyone help me?? And also will the update help improve ogg support. But i have to say if anyone is looking to buy a decent all round dvd player (with many great features and an endless compaitability) then this is it! At as low as £45 gbp u cant refuse. |

| When I first tried it the AVI play back was terrible, but once the firmware update V2.0 was install every thing works greats, but the draw, it looks like the weight of a DVD would be enough to break it. It is a very good machine for the price (£47.00) but make sure you are not too heavy handed when putting in or taking out a DVD. |

Well I am on my second yamada 6700, the first had "issues" so thought it was a duff player. Unfortunately the second had exactly the same problems and looking around I am definitely not the only one! These are the problems:-
1) Out the box the right rear speaker will not work for about 5 mins.
2) Half of xvid, divx, vcds disks seem to lock when you put them in especially if you swap between formats. After a reset they work (sometimes). Some files play with no sound then player locks.
3) These problems are meant to be solved by the v2 ROM (and the ff/rw issue). I upgraded to it BUT still have some lockups and now play back on XVID/DIVX/vcd is jerky i.e. ok for 3 seconds then jerk.
Anyone wanting to buy one of these at least wait until the version 3 rom comes out. Other wise, what I have seen so far your, money is best spent else ware. |

Just bought this from Novatech as their advertised Dvix player (which is what I wanted it for) for £50. Got it home and on first impressions I though it looked ok appart from the drawer which is its only downside! I actually had to take it back to get another one as the drawer was knackered!!
2nd player was fine. Played AVI but wouldn't play after fast forwarding. After reading posts on here - realised there is a firmware upgrade which fixes this. After flashing the firmware... it solved the problem and added more to the menus.. bonus!!
Overall - well impressed for the price and the quality and features are there a-plenty. Recomend this as a great DIVX & DVD player. Has tons more features than most of the cheap DVD players like Pacific from ASDA and all the others from Tesco and plays AVI files :o)

Also plays OGG files.
Even plays 44.1kHz PCM audio (if wrapped in an AVI file with no video).
Mine wasn't multi-region out of the box but was easily set to any region or multi-region by using a code on the remote. It then also played RCE DVDs.
My only niggles are:
the disc tray looks to be very fragile;
I can't find a way to get it to show more than the first 14 characters of a filename.

Good player, but file browser only shows 8.3 filenames :(
Divx support excellent.
I had some small audio problems
The player has an option to decode Prologic II but it doesn't seem to work with the coax output.

| I heard this thing can't play xvid files that have QPEL compression or GMC. That rules it out for many of the new releases. There was a reference to playing ogg - is that just ogg music files and .avis with ogg audio streams? Can anyone confirm whether it can play .OGM files? |

Plays OGG Vorbis files with no problems.
Has a few quirks which could be fixed with new firmware:
The MP3 files I've tried take 20s or so before it starts playing.
Filenames are truncated so it only shows the first 14 characters.
Wont skip backwards on OGG files (will on MP3).
