| This DVD constantly locks up, have to unplug it to get any thing to work again. Recordings constantly fail either at the begining or part way through. Use only TDK or Verbatum disks.Recording quality poor on anything but 1 or 2 hour setting. Tuner now does not pick up terestrial TV and remote stopped working shortly after this, so can not do anything but play disks until I can locate a new remote which is not easy. |

At £99.99 this is a little gem, The recordings done so far from video and Tv have been superb and played fine with other DVD players but not on the pc, the menu shows but when you select to play it dose not. However you can decrypt onto your hard drive using " DVD Deycrypter " which will find errors with the DVD, basically because your DVD recorder records in a different way, any way just click ok when faults are found by decrypter and when you have finished you will find a file that plays via nero 6 reloaded, this can then be edited and burned using your pc DVD Burner, this advice works on both DVD+RW and DVD+R.
Setting up the Tv channels is fairly easy and the instruction book dose give you direction, my only real dissappointment about the channels is you can not put then into logical order i.e BBC 1 onto channel 1 ( if anyone has figured out how to do this please let me know. ) Finally I have read in some other reveiws that others have found the blue light which shows when the unit is turned on ( not in stand by ) to be to bright, this has not really bothered me but if you sllep in the same room has your recorder then I can see that it might.
In sumerey this is a cracking buy for £99.99 with smart looks, good connectivety ( can use with 5.1 speakers, scart in, RCA in, and optical in and out, ) and packed full of features. |

Hi
The recorder works very well as to date i have had no problems. The results when using 1hr,2hr and 4hr recording are very good (as good as shop dvd quality), for 6 hrs there is minimal difference from 1,2 7 4 hr recordings.
As for disks all disks i have tried have worked with no problems and all recordings i have made have worked on several dvd players with no problem.
the only bad things i would say about it is the manual is not the best. |

Hi
The recorder works very well but the manual is hopeless. The results when connected to a freeview box is as good as my tv ever shows. The 1 hour or 2 hour are as good as a shop dvd [ film ]only the longest 6 hours on a large screen can be a little less good on screen.[The odd pixel shows]
As mentioned by others the machine is not the best at not locking up the odd time [ usually when the washing machine is or or you have a powerful light that is started ][ tube type ]in the house.
As for disks only had 2 bad disks in a batch so far both dvd+rw and they would not work on a computer either.
The blue light in a dark room is almost blinding. And the disks will play fine so far on my other machines. One thing to note is that if your set top box or sat box does not start up at the expected time and the recorder does it will not record to the disk it goes to pause and then switches off with no error message as to what happened [ only shows on screen at the time of the problem]Because no signal is detected.
I like the machine but it could be more user friendly. And it wont be rushed . |

I Have had no end of problems with this recorder,Discs
would refuse to play on any dvd player or pc wether finalised or not,Discs would not even play on this recorder,Also i could not add a set of speakers as the plugs at the back were far to tight.
Gave up when the recorder froze and would not responde to the remote or the buttons on the player and had to unplug it,i Returned it to RICHERSOUNDS who replaced it with a Goodmans 300r with out any fuss. |

| Bought this for £169, very impressed with the recording quality. Setup took a while, the unit looks a bit cheap and there`s a bright blue light shining whenever its in use but its worth it. Records onto +R and +RW but have played back -R and region 1 & 2 discs fine. |

This player seems to be stable with all brands of DVD+R/W that I have thrown at it. Setting it up is very easy with the new firmware installed (This is done by a user friendly on screen menu system).
Setting the timer to record is very easy.
Instant record is not as Instant as it could be due to having to select the record source first which has to be done via the remote as there are no controls to do this on the unit itself. Also you will have to have the T.V. turned on to see what you have selected. It is not as simple as a Video recorder where you simply select channel and press record.
You can give each recording on a disk an individual Title and graphic when using DVD+RW so as they are easily identifiable when the play Menu comes up.
The bad point though is that if using a DVD+R to record on you can NOT enter a title as above and it automatically gives all recordings on the disc the same title of “TITLE” and can not be altered.
MP3 playback (on CD or DVD) selection is adequate but does not display MP3 tags only file names up to what I think is 9 characters.
Picture playback is good. Just dump JPG’s to CD or DVD and the machine will do the rest.
On the whole given the price bracket of £169.95 this is a very well equipped player. Unfortunately I have not had it long enough to comment on reliability.
