I have just bought (29/03/03) a brand new Alchemist Surround Amplifier from Richer Sounds for £69.95 and it matches the 2100 DVD player perfectly.
The amplifier needs a player with AC3 such as the Yamada 2100 and the price was the same!
This amp has phono line-in sockets for 5.1 and speaker outputs for front (L & R) at 100 watts, centre and rear all at 80 watts (RMS I believe, at 8 ohm) plus a line-in & out for an active sub. It also has line-ins for other input devices (tuner, cd, aux, etc) and a remote control. Bass and treble and spkr outs and sub can all be individually set along with the master volume either by remote or via front panel controls. |

Purchased in the UK for £65 to replace a
Sony DVP S-325 that seemed to be incompatible with just about everything.
Looks expensive and a good match to the Sony VHS recorder underneath.
Plays VCD/SVCD on both CD-R/CD-RW, on cheap bulk pack media.
Plays DVD+R and DVD+RW burnt on NEC 1000A, Riteck DVD+R and Verbatim DVD+RW.
Reads JPEG's, CD-R & CD-RW MP3's no problems.
In all - well pleased. I'd spent many hours trying to get the Sony working but the 2100 worked straight out of the box. Excellent next day delivery from SVP Communications too. |

Bought this unit a week ago to replace my aging dansai model. The difference in quality is enormous(picture,sound quality). Plays DVD-r very well, have used:

All in all I think it`s a pretty good buy for £65 +pp.

Bought this for £65 in UK. Has all the features (and more?) of more expensive players and even looks good. However, the main reason for buying this is the fact that it plays most anything DVD/VCD/SVCD/XVCD/mp3(with ID Tags)/AUDIO CD/jpeg pictures, (all regardless of CDR/CDRW)flawlessly. The picture and sound very good. It came region-free straight out of the box (despite the manual only admitting to Region2 ;)
It has Dolby 5.1 and just about every output connector for video/audio you could use. I really cannot fault this Player. It is probably the most versatile except for the Kiss DVD which also has DivX support but costs over £200. |

This player as a special interlaced mode for pause and
for SVCD image mode. With this capabilitie, image is better in pause and Svcd image mode than all players y have tested except pioner which as the same special mode. Y make diaporama in SVCD photo mode and few pictures with horizontal lines are shaky, due to interlacing. With this player, all pictures are stable and zoom is functionning with VCD, SVCD, JPEG, MPEG2. |

I made the first report for this player.
Now, I can tell more about it.
This player plays well dvd-r (sony, princo 2x and bulkpaq 2x) and dvd+rw (sony 2.4x) burned with my new sony dru-500a.
The yamada dvd2100 player has a built-in decoder for Dolby Digital 5.1 and for DTS!!
I am using an external decoder with my amplifier Sony STR-DE485 with dd5.1 and dts.
Last week I found this, when I had to see some movies without my external amplifier: This player has serious problems when using the built-in decoder for dd5.1 and dts via the 6 channel outputs. It makes lots of sound pops, clicks or cracks.
Also, I found problems when playing "Planet of the Apes"(2001): some times the image freezes. I have no problems with playing this movie with my PS2 and my other player SM2100.

Hello,
I don't know if languagecodes are standard.
I mean the codes one can use in the setup to start in the correct language and/or with the correct subtitles (if available on DVD disc).
If you can't change the value then reset the menu settings to default.
By the way: I got the codes from Umax germany and Yamada.

Ordered on Thurs afternoon delivered on Friday morning from www.blankdiscshop.co.uk for £65, bargain. Played SVC VCD on CDR and CDRW straight out of the box, no problems. Works fine with menu buttons ans soundtrack is clear and crisp.
If you're looking for a DVD player then you won;t get much better than this for the money, Get one while they are around.

Replaced toshiba 220e with this because of sound syc probs on svcd's - this plays them ok every time tried traxdata and datasafe cdr's with vcd/svcd no probs also tried mp3s in folders and jpegs the same both easy to play and use, overall the quality and value for money is outstanding- hard to find any dvd player in the uk for similar price.

Hi,
I've just bought a Yamada dvd 2100(region free)it plays titles recored with dvdxcopy. For the price i.e. £64.99 + P&P while stocks last from www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acatalog/SVP_Communications_Special_Offers_15.html you will find it hard beat! I already have a Daewoo dvg6000d (Multi region)for £119.99 which I am very pleased with. I consider the Yamada to be as good if not better.
The DVD media I used was Bulkpaq 2x,Aladin 1x,Datasafe 2x all Burn't with Prassi. The CDR media I used was Datasafe multi speed and lots of unbranded CDRs burn't with nero and prassi no probs.

| Plays all types of disks, picture quality looks very good. BUT!!! when setup with speakers using dolby digital output, you get lots of cracks and pops. I have returned it for a refund. The interferance takes all the enjoyment out of it. |

Bought this player thinking it played all dvd media which I was wrong, I backup my dvds with a panasonic E30 which is dvd-r, only problem -r won't play on this player and where I bought it from stated it does also another site says it plays everything.
Am I doing something wrong does this player support dvd-r? or am I doing something wrong on the panasonic E30. CAN ANYONE HELP? |

Iv'e just bought this unit and found it to be very good in reproduction and usability, but am confused about the "region" issue.
Most reports about this kit suggest that it is "multi region" however; the manual I have clearly states - "region 2 only" If this is the case and I (and many others I fear) have been missled into thinking otherwise. If you "deffinately" require a multi region capable machine then be absolutely sure that the kit you buy can "deliver the goods" before you purchase. |

I am impressed with this player.
Good look. Superb image quality. Zoom in and zoom out!!. DTS, Built in 5.1 decoder for Dolby Digital, and Pro-Logic!!
Kodak CD!!; Jpeg!!; all VCD; all SVCD; Music CD, multisession with movies; CD-R, CD-RW.
You can select the type of speakers, the image sharpness...., and much more features that you don’t see in other much more expensive players
I don’t have any DVD recorder (yet), so I can’t test this player with DVD-R DVD-RW or DVD+R and DVD +RW. But from what I know from other sites, this player can play all with or without authoring!!( I hope)
I have SM 2100, another player that reads everything that I put in, but I conclude that the YAMADA 2100 is a better player.
This is a very good player.
