before this one i had a samsung 511 and he didnt played anything so i am very happy with this one

Outstanding value for money. If it played DVD-RAM, it would be the perfect machine for me, but that's expecting a bit much for £37! (From Amazon)
Quick loading, easy operation, good GUI. Multi-region out of the box. Doddle!
Came with 21 pin scart lead, stereo lead, S-Video lead, Digital co-ax (electric) lead. Not bad! |

Just bought it and started testing things. Bought a JDB 910 first (53 euro's, including 3 euro disposal costs), but returned it quickly.
The Yakumo is working up to their promises, I have even tried a mixed dvd+rw and cd-rw, with vob, mpg, mp3 and jpg files on it, the menu let me select everything.
No problems so far, I was amazed, everything I put in it just works.
To burn I used Nero, but to author I used many different products in windows and Linux.
For the price 63 Euro's incuding our dispocal cost of 3 euro's it is an Excellent player.
Pitty though that it does not show mp3-tags and the long file names are truncated in the menus.
I recommend this player to anyone who is looking for a cheap player, the cheaper ones are usually failing on several points.

You get what you pay for. Its cheap, only 34.99 from Amazon. However, SVCD playback is Jerky, and not brilliant.
DVD's themselves play fine.
Got the same menu system as the cyberhome (maybe a slightly updated model mind you).
Good for a cheap player, it IS multiregion OUT OF THE BOX, so thats another good thing.
Looks alot nicer than the cheaper DVD players on the market in competition with this one.
Shame about the jerky SVCD playback (i tried 3 disks, 3 differently encoded movies). |

I have just got an Optorite DVD burner, so will soon test a HDCD cDVD (1.4gb DVD on CD!). Am confident this will be no problem for the Yakumo.
The Yakumo supports NTSC/PAL switching, so you can play NTSC on PAL & vice versa. 16:9/4:3 switchable, various video & audio output settings, inc downsampling. The Player is quiet in operation, and the video output is second to none!!! It doesn't have 5.1 output, but does have a Coax digital for amp connection. It has a resume button, and by accident I foud that the resume function has memory for up to X amount of DVD's. Example, I was watching Return of the King, took it out 3/4 the way through, began watching something else then decided to go back to Return of the king. The DVD player automatically recognised the disc, and offered to resume where I left off!!!!!!! Could not believe what I was seeing!!!! The only players I've seen do this cost over £100.
Put simply, this player is absolutely out of this world!! It has many features to impress anyone, but the hidden ones are just cracking!!! £150 would be a reasonable price for this player!!
I recommend every in the whole world buy this player! Seriously, for £35, the whole world has the opportunity to receive a bargain, and I haven't even mentioned the looks!! (very slick & solid!) If I haven't sold it to you yet, read this review again.
