CVD? $125 N/A 10 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-JPG DVD-MP3 Comments: I love this dvd player..... ~i burned some vcd's and svcd's and they worked perfectly! (Memorex)at 16x cuz i got a dvd+rw drive so it also burns cd-r's and cd-rw's at 16. ~DVD+R and DVD+RW work perfectly (thank god!) i used Memorex DVD+RW's at 2.4x and DVD+R's at 4x ~MP3's worked too ~im wondering how many times i can burn onto the same dvd+rw and have it still work in THIS dvd player. my go video dvr4000 could read it and start playing it (dvd+rw, same i used in this sd v280) but it jumps/skips around every few minutes??? any advice?? do u know why this is happening?

N/A 5 of 10 Comments: Toshiba tech support says Toshiba does not support DVR+R and does not recognize it as a valid format. I will be buying a different brand of player next time. DVD-R media plays, but not really well. Tends to act up approaching end of disc, sometimes freezes and stops altogether.

N/A 5 of 10 Comments: had this for 12 weeks now it played every dvd+-r and rw i tryed it was the last player i was ever gona buy....until i played some of the first dvd copys i made and then it skiped bad but the disks played fine in the old apex so now ill go and look for a new one in the morning apex 3800 ill let you how that is next week

N/A 7 of 10 MP3 long filename Comments: VCDs on CD-R... GQ "Great Quality" brand (15 cent on sale with slim case works). Maxell works. SVCDs do not work, even with trick No RF modulator required for coax only TVs. Loads disks fast. Easy and responsive remote. 4 speed fast forward (very fast) on both DVD & VHS No problems in 2 years. Easily found at my local Target store. Normal VCR size fits in shelf, looks good. Newer models available. MP3s supported but short, numbered file name required.

CVD? $175 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Macrovision/Region Hacks: No/Both VCD on CD-RW or CD-R media: Yes/Both VCD's loaded fast and played great. SVCD on CD-RW or CD-R media: No/Both Did not work, even with the "Header Trick". MP3 on CD-RW or CD-R media: Yes/Both Used cheap media - still worked great. All DVD media tested burned in Sony DRU-500AX DVD+-RW/+-R using DVDxCopy. Media type indicated in Parenthesis. DVD-R (Verbatim & Fuji): Yes/Both Worked Perfectly. DVD-RW (Fuji): Yes Worked Perfectly. DVD+R : Not Tested Yet DVD+RW (Sony):Yes Surprised me! Worked perfectly. Previous posts said DVD+RW would not work. I have tested this three times to be sure and had zero problems. The same 3 dics will not load in a freind's Panasonic 6-Disc Changer. Was it the burner+good media or the Toshiba player? Either way, the DVD+RWs worked and I highly recommend both units. Final words: I have been totally satisfied thus far. DVD playback is excellent and as a bonus it is a VCR combo unit. I can tape the ball game while watching a DVD. A higher rating would have been acheived through SVCD support and Macrovision/Region Hacks.

N/A No rating JPG/JPEG Comments: According to the Toshiba Canada rep I just spoke with, this unit does NOT play Kodak Picture CDs or jpg files of any kind. (This agrees with my own limited tests.) The rep also said that while some DVD-RWs might play, the unit only supports the DVD-R format.

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: DVD+Rs work great in this player. I have only tested with BitSettings of DVD-ROM, as that is what my player (HP) burns by default. This player even plays Multi-Chaptered DVDs burned with Sonic's MyDVD.

CVD? $200 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Hi, I posted this player doesn't support DVD-RW. Nero Burning Rom made it playable. Specify DVD-VIDEO mode instead of DVD-DATA. DVD-DATA generates "Incorrect Disc" Error. So use Nero rather than any other burning software. Thank you for the prior posts. Sorry for correcting my prior reports. I'm changing my return plan. N/A No rating Comments: I tested this item with DVD-RW burned by Pioneer A04. But it didn't work. I was not satisfied with this item. I give more points on DVD-RW than DVD-R, because DVD-RW can be used 1000 times. So its price is about 1/500 of DVD-R. DVD-RW(Maxwell, Pioneer, Verbatim, and Imation) all failed. Finally I tested with CD-RW sold by Memorex. I made it as one Video CD. It perfectly worked. But why do we use Video CD on DVD-Player. If you want to buy this item with DVD-RW, I don't recommend it. Probably it could be my recording problem. However, I checked it on manual. So I'm returning this item.

CVD? $200 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: I bought this as a test since my Samsung V-1000 didn't play my DVD-R's. This Toshiba played the Sony, Maxell and Apple (blue, orange, green) DVD-R's perfectly. The 100x FF worked too.

VCD on same cheap media play perfectly. DVD "Back-ups" play great. I love it!

CVD? $175 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: CD-Rs tried Memorex,PNY,Verbatim,HP and HI-VAL. CD_RWs tried Memorex and Sony. VCDs worked great using Nero and burned on Zip CD650. Have not tried menus on VCDs DVD+RWs from a HP DVD100i did not work for me. DVD-RWs from a Pioneer DVR-A04 worked great. Menu and chapter selection also worked Authored both with DVDit PE and burned with Nero. Im new at this video stuff but I will report any future findings

CVD? $250 N/A 7 of 10 Comments: Good overall unit for a dvd-vcr combo, very good picture & sound, nice remote.Only tried two types of media in it TDK & Verbatim , no problems with eather one. Burned vcd's with fireburnner & cdrwin, wish it would play svcd, thats why i only give it a 7 .
