CVD? $600 over 1 year 8 of 10 Comments: Designed to play DVD-R discs as per manual. No DVD+R media mentioned in the manual, however: I use Verbatim "DVD+R DL" Discs rated at up to 8x that were manufactured in Singapore. Not sure what the Verbatim “DVD+R” discs were rated at or where manufactured. I have a Plextor PX-760A writer with PlexTools Pro v2.35 installed. I mention this because with Plextools Pro you can select to have both "DVD+R" & "DVD+R DL" discs bitset to DVD-ROM automatically. Once selected in Plextools Pro a variable in the drives firmware is permanently set to DVD-ROM regardless of what burning software is used. Someone said that they experienced pausing while playing, however I found that it only occurred around the “Layer Break” on "DVD+R DL" media. The fix I used was to reduce burn speed to 4x and use ImgBurn v2.2.0.0 to set the "Layer Break" point. Since then I've had no problems at all.

CVD? $? over 1 year No rating Comments: I tried bitsetting Memorex DVD+R Dl disc, didn't work so well. Disc would freeze and each chapter and you would have to manually skip ahead. I was wondering if bitsetting on verbatim discs worked any better??

N/A No rating Comments: Love this player for the picture quality. WIsh it played DVD-Audio though. Have Memorex dual format burner and have used Memorex DVD-R successfully every time.

N/A 9 of 10 Comments: The only DVD-R I have been able to play successfully so far are Verbatim DataLifePlus 2x. I have tried Maxell and Memorex with no luck, and have not been able to play +Rs or +RWs. I haven't tried Verbatim brand, other formats yet. Since the -R seems to be working fine, I will probably stick with them. Other than being a bit finicky with media, this player is top notch.

N/A 10 of 10 Comments: I have had no problems with Memorex DVD-Rs, having burned at least 10 without incident. The Part # is 32025510, the bar code # is 3470705510 and there's a small number in the lower left corner that reads 53955841. Mitsui 4x DVD-Rs play fine too. If you have successfully played -RWs, would you please tell me how you burned them.

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Few comments regarding media compatibility: Ritek 4x DVD-R media works perfectly Despite what other users have said, I had no problems getting DVD-RW to work with Memorex 2x DVD-RW media. However, it does take at least 30 seconds for the player to recognize the media and show the title screen. So, be a bit patient when trying. I could not get Memorex 4x DVD+R to work at all. Same for Memorex DVD+RW (although I cannot bitset with my burner). Also note, if burning a DVD with mp2 audio, the audio will only be transmitted through the analog outputs. All burns were done with RecordNow on a Pioneer A06 burner.

CVD? $500 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: I've tried TDK DVD-Rs, which work. TDK DVD+Rs & DVD+RWs do not work. I've heard that other brands of +Rs work on this unit, so check them out before buying. Unfortunately my TDK 440N burner does not support bitsetting, so I can't comment on whether +RWs will play. The picture quality is superb, but I sure wish I could use more disc types, at least a rewritable or two so that I could test my projects before commiting them to -Rs.

N/A 9 of 10 Comments: Maybe I have been lucky, but my SD-6200 will play DVD-Rw. I have tried both Pioneer and TDK RW's using Pinnacle InstantCopy and DVDXCopy burned on a Pioneer DVR-105 and they play just fine. I have used Ritek DVD-R's and they have worked 100% of the time also.

CVD? $400 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: I have successfully played DVD-R and DVD+R on this machine with discs burned on the Sony 500AX. I use Maxell 635020(R) and 634020(+R)exclusively. The player itself works great with HDTV. The 2 disc carousel is a big advantage for discs burned using DVDXCOPY. When the onscreen prompt appears to insert disc 2, all I need to do is click the DISC SELECT button to resume a movie without the hassle of leaving the living room chair. I wish it had come with a lighted remote control.

N/A No rating Comments: I bought a test pack from supermedia(2 DVDPro DVD-R,2 Ritek DVD-R, 2 Optodisc DVD-R). Burned with RecordNow DX and Sony 500A. At the end of the burn of the Ritek and the DVD Pro, it stated there had been a problem reading the source DVD, but the burn had completed and seemed to work fine. All above DVD-R played on the toshiba!

CVD? $600 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: I bought this player over 2 years ago. I had tried playing VCD on it prior to purchase(in the store). When they played I bought it. I recently installed the Sony 500a burner. So far this is what I found out. The sony burner does not support the DVD Bitsetter. So I have burned DVD-R. These are the media so far: Memorex DVD-R plays Sony DVD-R does not play Sony DVD+RW does not play Sony DVD+R does not play Will update when I burn more. The DVD player is a very good player. Has a great picture, just wish it read more formats.

In order to use DVD+RW I needed to use the DVD Bitsetter program from dvdplusrw.org, but it works great. I have used both Memorex and Verbatim for the DVD+RW and DVD+R media. As for CD-Rs, I have used many different types. I have had some issues with cheap, bulk CD-Rs, so I tend to use Memorex. I have created DVDs/CDRs with VCD and DVD Quality Vid/Audio

I've burnt serveral movies using the Sony DRU500A and here is what has worked for me. Memorex DVD-R plays just fine. I'm hoping that most brands of DVD-R will be compatible Verbatim DVD+R does NOT work! Sony DVD+RW does NOT work! that's all I've tested so far :)

Have played with other formats tested but am very pleased with this player. Bought it for the home theater quality... would buy a second player like Apex 1500 for better/diverse media and format quality

According to the specs for the DVD200i, it writes:CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD+R media So sounds like we'd at least be able to create CDRs that should be able to work. I'm wanting to convert my VHS tapes to something my SD6200 can read. Anyone tried anything that works well? What hardware/software did you use? James jimb1233@attbi.com

I can't play SVCD, which is my *only* complaint about the unit. I was unaware of video CD's when I bought the unit and would look for one that is compatible if I was buying one again.
