The media code on the Maxell is MXL RG02 which is supposed to be one of the best out there. If anyone was sucessful in playing this media in this player, please let me know about it and how you did it. Thanks

N/A 7 of 10 Comments: When it works, it's great. Problems with DVD+R, made on a HP200 PC burner using XCopy Xpress and Fuji and Hypermedia 2.4X blanks - freezes half-way through. Sent it for cleaning, came back, played three disks, and has started freezing again. I don't think it's dirt. I'll try Verbatim, since most people seem to think they work. E-mail me if you think there are better media to use. Also please let me know your success with Fuji - I know I'm not buying any hypermedia again.

CVD? $150 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: I owned the SD3750 for about 2 years now and the only thing bad about them in the batch is a bad board. I got mine replaced 10 days after I purchased it. I think Toshiba rebatched the sd3750,,, but some where takeing back due to dvd movie freeze up. Since I got a new board installed by warrenty, the dvd player is very damn good. Lots of goodies on it and things to fiddel with. Quick loading and ejection. Search is pretty quick and I have not had no probs playing regular dvd movies or cds with it at all. I run RGB and progressive to my front projectior and the picture is beautiful!!120" image. As for dvd+/- R's or RW's .... the only thing I see that it will not play are my cheap Digital Video and Compusa DvD-R's. Well I mean that they play,, but at the end of the movie it freezes on me. I thought it was the player,, but NOPE.... it was the El Cheapo Disks!!! I give it 9 out of 10. Nothing is PERFECT!!

N/A 8 of 10 MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: I am very pleased with this Player. No Problems playing CD-R/RW MP3 discs using Verbatim media. I have had no troubles playing Store bought DVDs but DVD-Rs have been a slight problem. I am getting issues with pauses and glitches in the back-up dvd playback towards the end of the movie. I am using DVDDecrypter + DVD2One + RecordNow Max to do the backups. If anyone can tell me what I am doing wrong please email me at yonkmajf@student.gvsu.edu.

CVD? $200 N/A 7 of 10 Comments: I have my Toshiba 3750 connected to a 46" HDTV Mitsubishi Widescreen and the picture is gorgeous. I have successfully used CD-R's (vcd and mp3), DVD-R, and DVD-RW in the player. I have had problems playing the Princo 2X DVD-R media at times. I burned the EXACT same movie to a TDK DVD-RW and it worked great, however, the Princo brand media "sometimes" does not work. The player just hangs and says "Loading". Overall I am very pleased with this unit.

N/A No rating Comments: Hi, I use Verbatim media for everything and I have never had a problem, everything played. Now I'm a little confused and some of the comments. I have played VCD's, SVCD's, XVCD's and XSVCD's without a problem. I think one thing to consider is your burning software. I use SonicFoundry's Vegas Video 3.0 to compose a movie and do the final redbook burn. I use TMPGEnc to encode all the formats listed. The only format that does not work is MINI DVD. Ulead's DVD MovieFactory 2 encodes to a red book format and will be compliant with most DVD players. MovieFactory also gives you nice front ends with all the menu creation bells and whisles. Mike

I've been unable to get any +r/rw media to work as of yet. Right now my +rw are running in compatibility mode 1. Looking at some other forums and they say I should be able....

You can trick this player to do it by putting a mpeg1 header at the beginning but then all you can do is watch the movie you cant fast fwd. plays mp3 and vcd's very well. N/A 9 of 10 Comments: Works great for any VCD's I've tried, even with el-cheapo generic 80min media. It won't play an SVCD, but with this player, you can just take an SVCD mpeg2 stream, and burn it in VCD format, and it will play it just fine (and looks great). The only problem I've seem with mpeg2 in VCD format is if you hit stop, and then play to resume, it mis-calculates where to resume (because it thinks it's mpeg1 I suspect) - Pause works OK, though. I use VCD Imager to create bin/cue for these VCD's with mpeg2. I'm not sure how well other programs work for doing this, but I've heard Nero will work. I occasionally get rewind problems on some downloaded VCD's, but ones I've encoded with TMPGEnc work great. Overall I'm very satisfied with this DVD player.

N/A 10 of 10 Comments: I finally made it work well with Vcd/XVcds with Mpeg1(352x240) or Mpeg2(480x480) format . I was rolling on the floor when I learned that its only the format and not the stream type that was important. Dont try SVCD, the format DOES NOT work. I used Nero to burn my mpeg2 files in VCD format. The player did not like the first CDs I made with my Acer 12x CRW1232(IDE), always skipping... Even when writing at low speeds. But I found that and old Matshita CW-7582(4x) was able to do the job. The player now reads perfectly every cd of every brand I can get my hands on.

People have been complaining about not being able to use certain brands of cds, but I am able to play xvcds on verbatim CDRWs and PNY CDRs, two brands mentioned by others because they didnt work. I have no fast forward problems either. Its annoying not being able to play SVCDs, but the DVD+RW compatibility will be helpful. DVD picture quality is amazing, I play it on a panasonic widescreen HDTV, component progressive output (of course). The xvcds are a little bit blocky, but I'm not sure if thats the player or the fact that my bitrate is somewhat low (1300 kbps).

CVD? $180 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: burned vcd's using both roxio and nti cd maker. did vhs video capture using dazzle digital video creator 80 and converted the .avi to .mpg using avi2vcd. the following disks all played the burned vcd very well in this dvd player: both gold and silver memorex, silver pny, white verbatim, silver imation. excellent player at a really good price.

CVD? $180 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: I really like this DVD player, BUT It's been a pain in the ass! The main problem I had was finding CD-RW media that would work. The only CD-RW media that I have found to work is NASHUA brand 80minute CD's. Verbatim and Maxell CD-RW's skips my MP3's and makes my VCD's choppy. There was a brand of CD-R media that didn't work well either but I can't remember what brand it was. Right now I'm using Sony 80min media, and it's working great for VCD's and MP3's. I've also found it it sort-of picky on mpeg encodings. ie. My Enterprise encodes of WOW don't work well, but FEVER works just fine. I havn't worked with encoding mpegs yet, so I don't know if it's because of bitrates etc. DVD playback is excellent along with the audio. This player has component, composite, and S-Video video outputs.

CVD? $180 N/A 4 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD Comments: Bought this sucker from American TV. Looked at all these reviews and thought, wow this must be a great player! Smoke and mirrors! I found combing abd pixelization in a lot of titles. I was running prog. scan on a Mitsubishi 55807. Shrek showed a lot of combing and Desperado Superbit reds were nasty with pixelization. Don't know if I got a crappy player or not, but the sucker went back 3 days later. Not sure what to buy now. I have the Pioneer DV434 and are pretty happy with that cuz it plays SVCD as well. The picture quality was not much different except the pioneer didn't have the crappy artifacts. I was not impressed with Toshiba's offering this time around.

CVD? $180 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: This DVD has good picture and sound, I think it's pretty good at DVDs. As for VCD I've found that it's doesn't take on alot of brand, i've tried memorex, acer, pny, and the no brand cdr, and they return with bad result, the movie will stops for 1 sec every min or 2 so it's really annoying, so i'm testing other brands and see if it works so far I think TDK works really good with this player but i'm still in the testing process. Brands that I haven't tried are vebaltim, maxell, fuji, sony, and a couple of others. I've never tried XVCD on this so I don't really know but for the other reviews I think it's pretty good. As for Mp3, this is a fairly good player, despite what the manual said about 650 mb disc only I've tried 700 and it still works so....but the layout of this player in mp3 mode really suck big time, extremely boring and not very informative.

My pioneer 525 on the other hand, doesn't care. It will play it either way. Michael
