CVD? $150 150 days 8 of 10 Comments: The top of the line Toshiba HD-A35 HD-DVD player not only plays every HD-DVD from around the world because HD-DVD contains no region coding, but also upscales your standard DVD collection to near HD quality. This machine has a very simple user interface, but lacks certain items... For instance, if HD-DVD playback is stopped, the last scene watched is not pre-book marked by the player, you will have to use the book marking featuring if available with the HD-DVD. This is not an issue with regular DVD playback. This player is media picky. 16X Memorex discs in the DVD+R format will not read, and will sometimes cause a freeze requiring a complete player restart. Taiyo Yuden media works flawlessly in both DVD-R and DVD+R format. This player also contains, hardware to decode DTS-HD DTS Master Audio and Dolby True HD. Because of the freeze up in the Memorex media, I have knocked 2 points of this players rating, the second generation series players didnot have this problem.
