After one week the player had a problem with laser. I've been waiting for the new laser about 2 weeks, but it was under warranty. Now works good, especially on SVCD (I have about 30 SVCD), reads 4 tracks for sound, for subtitles. It is a quite good player.

N/A 9 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD MP3 long filename DivX Comments: hi there! the thomson DTH 4200 (found for 30 € at ebay) is a nice dvd player, if you know how to handle! it reads all kinds of vcd and svcd, if its the right format.. he dont like overburned cd-r, like 90 or 99 min cd-rs (plays not till the end of cd) and cds with menus or more than one video track (desync of video and audio) turn the menu alwasy off! the player can perfect play dvd-+r, but it depends on the media and the burner!!! fine works the tdk -+ media and the verbadim -+ media es well, but only if there were burned with 2x or 2.4x. faster (4x) causes film-jumping and desync of video and audio! cheap dvdrs like skc (2x) and princo (1-4xspeed R4.7) dont work, maybe i shoult try rec them by only 1x!? i use an lg 4040b burner with fw a301

CVD? $250 N/A 6 of 10 MP3 long filename Comments: I've tried several DVD-R without success. I would not recomend to use for burned DVD-R. Any othe future are good. MP3 quality is excellent. I've made some comparison with the original Audio CD. You can not make differentiation between original and MP3. CD-RW is pure after the 5th rewrite.

After 1 year and 2 monthes it "broke down" again, I had to pay 100 $ at the service station to change the DVD reader unit. Since then it works fine... It played VCD, SVCD, CD-R, CD-RW from the begining, but there were always some "troubled" ones, especially CD-RWs. I have two DVD-R, one plays fine (TDK), the other one is very jerky (Optodisc). I don`t think I`m ever going to buy a Thomson DVD-player again...

CVD? $250 N/A 7 of 10 MP3 long filename Comments: bought in germany back in summer 2001. played every CDR and CDRW i put in, played every MP3 i ever put in, played every VCD i ever put in, SVCDs from some friends sometimes let the picture freeze, but when i ripped those and burned 'em new with last nero, everything was fine. SOMETIMES high bitrate parts of SVCD let the picture freeze shortly, but only 1 or 2 frames, then its ok again. too bad i dont have a way to test SVCD MPEG 5+1 sound extension, it didnt work, but that could be the amplifier also.

Over all its slow machine but seems to work otherwise quit good. I have had it about 3 years now. I have aopen dvd burner what is working ok.

N/A 8 of 10 MP3 long filename DivX Comments: I'm totally satisfied... I tried it with both VCD and SVCD, both CD-R and CR-RW, and it work as well. It works well with mp3 too. I hadn't problems with 700 MB CDs, and it worked with the new 90min CD-r too. The one format it doesn't work is the XVCD, but i just tried one of this.
