CVD? $? over 1 year 7 of 10 Comments: good picture and sound quality. had the player for about 2 years, and recently its started rejecting a lot of discs - it says there isnt a disc in the drive, when there is. repeated ejecting and reloading usually gets it to work. this is very very ANNOYING !

However remote is rubbish, and you have to sometimes press the eject up to three times before the disk is ejected. i have contacted Thomson but alas their after sales lets them down also with no reply ever sent.

CVD? $70 7 days 8 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-RAM Comments: Bought this player from ASDA (Walmart) supermarkets for £40 in the UK and am very pleased. It replaced my aging Wharefdale 750 which, although gave good service for four years, was unable to play the latest discs. The Thomson 211 has now been replaced by the 212 but if you can still find one of these in ASDA, buy one. The picture is excellent and it can be made multi-region very easily. Ensure no disc is in the tray and using the remote control key in 3 2 1 7 8 9 4 5 6 and select 'all regions'. And there you go. Some reviews have said the remote is rubbish. Not quite, but it is too small and badly designed. This player is no longer cutting edge and lacks progressive scanning but for the price, it's borderline excellent. A current, cutting edge piece of kit is probably the Philips 630.

CVD? $125 N/A 7 of 10 Comments: Menu's are kind of crappy, but player works as expected. I was able to change to region free without much trouble. Works on PAL and says it will work with NTSC, but we'll see. Remote is terrible, not working except only when it's right in front of unit not more than two feet away.

MP3 WMA CVD? $90 N/A 7 of 10 JPG/JPEG MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: nice player, but some features are missing: id3tag for mp3, subtitles for svcd. some wma-s can't be played, i not tested yet what kind. picture quality is good, sound also ok. one strange thing: on the "rocky horror picture show" dvd (i.e.) when the movie comes to a chapter change, sometimes the last 1-2 seconds from the last chapter are repeated, this can be very annoying. on some dvds the language and subtitle selectione can be done only from the main menu, not with the remote while watching the movie. the same dvds subtitle and language change worked on other players well with the remote.
