CVD? $? over 1 year 6 of 10 DivX Comments: At the beginning the player playd all I tried nicely (as can be seen in my first report) but now it stops playing occasionally in the middle of watching. It may have something to do with heat. If I open the casing it seems to work better. In general I would not recommend this player to anyone who wants to view their own DVD's. I have made some DVD's out of DV material and they all seem to work fine with all other players I've tried.

CVD? $? over 1 year No rating Comments: I've never had problems with burned DVD's, but then I've allways used the same brand of DVD+R: Verbatim DVD+R 4x.

CVD? $80 over 1 year 7 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-MP3 DivX Comments: Tried HP DVD+RW, Philips DVD+RW, Maxell DVD+RW and DVD-RW, Sentinel DVD+RW and DVD-RW, Mirror Platinum DVD+R, Datawrite Red DVD-R and all of them worked. Burned with Nec 1300A and Nero. The biggest problem is that when burnin MPEG1 material on DVD disks the player sometimes looses audio/video sync and occationally halts for couple of seconds. And also DVD's I've authored with TMPGEnc dvd authoring software does not show the menu at all while all other tested players does. Had to update firmware to get svcd support. All together not so bad player.

N/A No rating Comments: I have now found that Bulk Pac DVD+RW 2.4 speed work fine in this player. They cost a bit more than standard dvds. I pay £8.00 for 10 when ordered on the net.

N/A No rating Comments: Tompson DTH 210. My Dad has this DVD player and I have tried Ritek G4 Orange top DVD-R. Mirror +. Datawrite Yellow Top –R. None work. Bulk Pac DVD – R played for 40mins then stops so you cant see the end of the film. I did however get it to play a DVD-RW but I have no idea which brand. I plan to keep trying with the DVD-RW

N/A No rating Comments: One thing that annoyed me about this player was that it couldn't play svcd, but after I got a software upgrade from Thomson, svcd works. (I haven't tested alot, but I downloaded a svcd-sample which didn't work before, and it played like it should.) My software upgrade is dated 2002-11-27 (021127), and it can be downloaded at: http://breim.net/janrune/dth210/ I have played a lot of DVD+R (Verbatim 4x), and I've never had any problems with these discs, and I've never had any problems with burned cd's either. All in all, this is a nice player since DVD+R, mp3, jpeg, and svcd works now.

N/A No rating Comments: have had this for about a year and has allways played vcd's perfectly.Got a dvd writer the other day and some blank dvd-r's.After several projects and dvd movies made,none would play.I nearly went to buy a new player ,untill i tried a last ditch experiment.iauthored a video into a video_ts folder,then instead of burning it as a video,i selected dvd rom/iso in nero(ignoring nero telling me not to)dragged the video_ts folder to the project window and burned.Miracle of miracles,,,,all the videos now play perfectly.Hope this helps others out there ready to chuck the thomson in the bin.It's worth a try and it works for me. .

CVD? $125 N/A 4 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: This DVD Player totally sucks. The remote gives you a headache when you look at it, and is hardly functional for the DVD Player, it does have some shit buttons for the TV you'll prolly never use. The worst thing is, it doesn't do what it promises to do. It SHOULD play DVD-R just fine. But it doesn't. LotR: TTT freezes at aprox. 43 mins, and it doesn't plays the rest of the DVD. Normal DVD's work just fine, and it could be that I just have a bad sample, but this shouldn't be happening, so bad job for Thomson.

CVD? $150 N/A 10 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-RAM Comments: I have made numerous audio and video CDs and a few DVD-R compilations and the DTH-210 has performed very well, although I have had to convert my jpeg images down to less than 2 megapixel in order to create a slide show.I generally use 'Memorex' 48xCD-R discs and 'Datawrite' 2xDVD-R discs. Does not play the 8cm DVD-ROM discs that are supplied with the Panasonic VDRM30 DVD camcorder/Hitachi DZMV350 DVD camcorder, but will play 8cm DVD-R discs that have been finalised by these camcorders.

N/A No rating Comments: I'm dissappointed, the user manual and Comets sales speal says it will play 'most dvd-r's'. Thomson helpline say it is not programmed to play dvd-r's - a contradiction that I am currently arguing with them. 1 out of 4 dvd-r's I tested played ok, the rest played black and white, this isnt 'most' to me!

No Problems with SVCD I Only have one Intenso DVD+R but this one works without any Problems. Play´s 2x DVD-RW from "Pioneer A05" Most DVD-Players and many DVD-ROMs doun´t play it. But if you want do view Movie Backups on DVD-R like me you better take another player. This One has big problems to play the end of the DVD-R. Some work but most times you can´t view the end.

N/A No rating Comments: Have found new firmware for svcd playing at http://vnet.hu/fer/dth210 download, unzip and create cd using clonecd. Firmware is sw020923 To install turn on dvd player with no disc in. At No Disc press menu on remote then 7 6 0 Select 1 to update firmware Open tray with remote button Insert newly createddisc Close tray with remote Screen will go black for 30 secs or so then wil have coloured bars. When coloured bars appear turn off dvd at mains Leave off for a few seconds then turn back on Chose language as in first installation. To check if firmware has been installed just follow first few steps and you should see firmware date code is 020923. Select 2 for no firmware update. Good luck

N/A 6 of 10 JPG/JPEG MP3 long filename DivX Comments: Although it plays SVCDs (provided you have the last firmware update!), many of the "hand made - ready to burn" SVCDs you can find over there simply won't play, and others will have audio/video sync problems, and/or variable audio level problems, and/or frequent video freezes that make watching these SVCD a very annoying task. Of course, yo can always try to extract the MPG file with your computer, reencode it and burn it again to solve these problems, but it will not always work, depending on how the original encoding was done. The SVCD sample you can find here at VCDHelp.com works perfectly well, and of course all DVDs. Also JPG and MP3 suport is ok (but no long names). Overall, if you want an "eat everything" DVD player forget about this one and go for a Daewoo DVG6000D or so ;)

N/A 8 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: using vcd format on any oold cheap cd-r works a treat. You will need a RGB scart cable (all pins wired up) to view NTSC in colour. If you use the header swap trick to play SVCD this works a treat. regional hack info:- Always perform a Cold Start before applying the hack below 1. Power on your player (without disc) 2. Wait for menu 3. Using your remote control enter the code 1,6,7 4. choose 1-6 (or just simply 0 for multi-region) 5. Would be great player if support for SVCD and could read MP3/JPG on DVD but it is only possible to read MP3/JPG on CD-R(W) disc.

The picture stands like a rock an especialy the black repuduktion is perfekt not like my other player LG 3200E that always seemed a bit cloudy. Mp3 is a nother good feature an it work´s great. Overall a very good player at a great price.
