| I've just returned my THIRD recorder and am getting a refund. Every one failed with timed recording, which rather defeats the object of having a recorder! The first two lasted 3 weeks, the last one didn't work from the beginning. DO NOT BUY!!! |

Returned it to seller after 3 days.
Three reasons:
No functional Scart RGB input,
No functional DV input,
No functional progressive scan output.
Despite the good general apperance I was VERY disappointed. |

The player hasn't given me much trouble so far, it has player most of the media that I've thrown at it, certain Divx files have not played on it. The same files did however play on my Philips DVP5100.
There is also the issue of aerials that I have discovered. It seems that the RF OUT does not send out the DVD picture it only acts as a aerial pass-through (as my previous dvd player would send out both dvd and aerial signal, allowing other TV around the house to tune into and watch the DVD's). This has been in my experience, if this isn't the case...sorry |

This is a new model and so there are issues here and there. I am still waiting for feedback in relation with my queries in relation with some of the TV channels not being recognized (4 out of 16)
and the quality of playback via the FireWire port from a digital camcoder.
I have not had any issues while playing back the DivX or DVD Video, but I had some problems recording.
It seems to be capable of recording to DVD+R/-R/+RW/-RW, but the machine got frozen twice or three times during the recording already.
The only reason I am stuck with this model as it allows me to both playback DivX and record onto dual - and + media. And it has a FireWire port that I can use to backup my DV tapes.
Overall it looks like this model still needs some work to be done to make it a decent purchase.

| Lacks some of the good features that my Philips DVDR70 had, e.g. Thumbnail selection, title splitting, 2.5 hour record mode. It does have lots of inputs though (more than I will ever use). I am having some problems getting Nero Digital (standard) mp4 files to work (freezes up the recorder at the start). I believe that this is something to do with resolution that the file was created at (the Nero defaults do not seem to work for my Matrix DVD). I initially had some problems with the "Auto Update" of the system clock, but this seems to be OK now. As I usually use +R/+RW, I have only tried one -R disk, and this was going OK until I hit about the two hour mark and it stopped recording for some reason. I haven't retried this, so it may have been a loss of signal. |
