Comments:
I agree w/jim rivers, motor noise is annoying, must press buttons twice sometimes for the unit to respond, remote has p**s-poor button layout and lacks versatility (will not control a TV other than another Sony, and only limited functionality even there), and no region-unlock hack available (at least haven't been able to find one). Playback is decent, but that's about all I can say for it. I purchased this unit to have a combo in the bedroom, went w/Sony because of the brand name - big mistake. I also will stay away from Sony in the future.

Comments:
Bought this Sony Combo the same week I bought an Allegro Combo. Paid 125.00 for the Sony at Sams. Paid 49.00 for the Allegro at BestBuy. The Sony plays back with a motor noise that gets on my nerves, the remote has less features and frequently requires me to push the button more then once to do its thing. It seems to skip more while playing back dvds then the Allegro. It also takes awhile to get around bad spots on a dvd.

The Allegro on the other hand works hands down, little noise, great remote and plays all media I put in without complaining.

Many would think the Sony would win hands down. Not the case. In fact I will probally never pay for a Sony product again. Especially since the price is outrageous. Stay away from Sony. They are living off their past. Their products are too expensive for simular products.
