CVD? $300 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: im very perplexed on this DVD player. i made some VCDs awhile back for a friend that was complaining that they didnt play in his DVD player. I burnt the discs in EasyCD and they played fine. Now, a few months later, I'm burning VCD in Nero and now they're not recognized by the DVD player. I tried Maxell, Memorex and Cursor Colors - nothing now. Before, OK.

CVD? $300 N/A 7 of 10 Comments: I too have used the Memorex CD-RW 700 mb 80 min cd's without problems so far I have been able to create an SVCD with the DVD2SVCD utility and under bitrate tab used the values (Left to right) 2100-300 1600-1970 and specified 2 cds in all tabs when the farthest right tab was set to 2500 I got the black picture with no sound as others here have stated Currently I am expermenting with mini dvd's I will let you know

CVD? $300 N/A 10 of 10 Comments: I have finally tested this Sony DVD player for XSVCD. I have found that it does plays max resolution of 720X480 just like a DVD. The Bit rate can only go as high as 3100Kbit/s anything higher than that will cause the player to freeze somewhat. This is a significant improvement over the 480X480 and 2666Kbit/s limit. Video is almost identical to its DVD counterpart. The compression is always a bit more visible on SVCD. It also consumes much more data so it will be less than 40 mins a disc at this resolution. If anybody is also experimenting on this model or the DVP-S560 (which are identical) feel free to email me.

CVD? $300 N/A No rating Comments: Contrary to an earlier report, Pine CDs failed. I tried the 80min 12x ones and they did not work. However, the Digital Media brand on sale at Circuit City did work, as reported by many others. VCD and SVCD worked, but in the case of SVCD, you need to make sure you don't exceed the 1900bps bitrate (the default for bbMPEG is 2.38kbps and this produced a black image).

CVD? $350 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: DVD Functionality is wonderful. Very nice sound. The only CD-R I could get to work happen to be the sheapest I could find. CompUSA generics bought at 100 for 20$. I've tried many others and it just won't read them, but luckily I have three hundred of the ones it will.

CVD? $600 N/A 5 of 10 Comments: Doesn't work with any CD-R edia i've tried. Very disapointing for me. Burned VCD's of movies I have made do not play either. Again, very dispointing. I was surprised that my DVD-R from my G4 superdrive worked fine.
