CD-RW - VCD movie plays, supported Media Name - Verbatim 700mb CD-RW Software Used - TEMPenc, Virtual Dub Hardware (Burner) - LiteOn CD-RW DVD+R - DVD Movie (converted XviD file) 700mb Media Name - Imation DVD+R,8x,4.7GB,120min, Supported Software Used - Nero 6.6.0 Hardware (Burner)- NEC 3520a XviD to DVD using WinAVI Video Converter v.6.2. I have been using the verbatim for some time now and they work a treat on this DVDplayer. Recently just bought a NEC 3520a DVD-RW, Imation DVDs work fine with this DVD player using Nero DVD movie creator however still testing other media. DVD player - Sony DVP-S536D, and is just over 3 years old.

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Only some CD-RW work. TDK 80min. 4x-8x-10x don't work. Sony 1x-4x, Verbatim 8x-10x and Memorex 8x-12x ( all 80min-700MB ) work very well when burning VCD or SVCD.

It doesn't support mini DVD. CD-R are not read in this player.

N/A 7 of 10 Comments: I have had this player for about 18 months I am very pleased with it as far as playing dvd's goes, the picture quality is excellant, but as for VCD's and SVCD's I have found that only two types of media will work thay are "Datasafe" and "Vivistar" and even with them the picture tends to freeze alot and the sound goes out of sync, one way of restarting a frozen disc I have found is to either pause it or press stop, but only once otherwise the disc will restart from the begining, pressing pause and then play will also put the picture back in sync with the sound, as far as subtitles go I have found that if a film has them there is now way of removing them. Dvdr's play with no problems at all. I have had the player chipped which as well as making it mulit region it has also disabled macrovision. (chipped by www.switch-it-on.co.uk £65)

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: I have found no CD-RW who doen't work. Most CD-R won't work, I have succed only in playing Vivastar CD-R. But those work finde with all (CDA, VCD, SVCD).

N/A 7 of 10 Comments: VCD & SVCD burnt with Nero 5.5 work fine with CDR/W, even after erase (quick) and re-write using Viking CDR/W 700mb and Traxdata CDR/W 650mb (red ones). Only a few brands of CDR's will work... Vivastar (cheap) 700mb work fine (available at Argos in the UK).

N/A 3 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD Comments: Have only tried silver CD-R's brand GAT (cheap one), works fine (burning with Nero 5.5). All the CDRW that I've tried works ( VCD & SVCD with Dolby Sorround ). I've not closed the MiniDVD project yet. Still working on it.

CVD? $400 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: It took a while to find out what CDR Media this little begger worked with. The VCD qualty it brill. There are many fetures on this drive. Best of all programble remote to add your TV or Decoder .... There are no region hacks for this DVD player but you can get it chipped this will remove the Muti Region and the Macrovision and also skip past the FBI warning.
