CVD? $? 2 days No rating Comments: Paid $5.00 US for this unit at a garage sale. ($299.00 new) Tried to play unit and got several minutes of A/V and then NO DISC error code appeared. Insides are pristine with no dust. Cleaned laser optics w/ Alcohol and Q tip. Have found that laser is extremely sensitive to leveling. Just a sheet of paper under one leg can throw it off. Moving unit around on a reasonably flat table...found one place where all functions were active and NO DISC error disappeared. Very pleased, but no cheers to Sony for lack of leveling screws or level indicator. Doc W.

CVD? $? over 1 year 7 of 10 Comments: bought a NEC3500 DL burner over christmas. so i decided to try burning so DVDs to see if this Sony S360 can play them. I bought a box of 5 Memorex DVD+R from future shop as they were on sale. here are the steps i took 1)use DVD shrink 3.2 to backup the DVD to ISO 2)use DVD Decrypter to do an ISO write to a blank DVD+R. 3)play DVD+R in dvd player I thought i had to use bit settings to set the media but it seems to work without it. Havent tried DVD-R yet but it should work. so far happy with the results. I've burned Finding Nemo, Bad Santa.

CVD? $? over 1 year 8 of 10 Comments: This player plays most DVD+Rs and DVD+RWs. I just purchased the Sony Double Layer Burner a few months ago. The only DVD+R DL discs out there that I know of are the ones by Verbatim. I used the Nero burning software that came with the burner and the DVD+R DL disc played flawlessly in this player. This DVD player is older, but I have been happy with it.

CVD? $? over 1 year 6 of 10 Comments: It plays all normal DVD's brought at the stores and plays burnt DVD's but I can't get it to play a VCD or SVCD for the life of me. It's time to turn this one in and replace it.

CVD? $? 90 days 7 of 10 Comments: I can't say many bad things about this player. It has done very well for me. Providing you buy a silver back CD with a bluish tint to it, it will play CD-Rs and VCDs. I have recently baught a DVD Writer and found that this player plays DVD-Rs like a charm. Usd generic media at 4x Write and have backed up movies using DVD Decrypter, DVDtoOne and DVDXCOPY Xpress. The player can be a little fussy but over all a little patience and a good result.

CVD? $200 N/A 5 of 10 Comments: This Dvd is Good only for Standards Dvds (that you buy at stores) and normal cds. I tried many cd-r,and none works. I tried cd-rw,works,but with many playback problems. I tried DVD-R,it works,but many problems,freezing,skiping. I tried DVD-RW and it works fine so far. I never had problems to play stardard dvds or cds,but if you wish more features like, Cd-r/Dvd-r/mp3 etc.. you need another player.

N/A 8 of 10 DVD-MP3 Comments: Had this player for 3-4 years. It's my first and so far it's been great. Not as many bells and whistles as other models, but it plays DVDs, which is what I bought it to do. I just bought my first DVD burner, a Lite-On DVD R-/+ RW-/+, and a pack of Ritek DVD-R blanks. Using DVD X Copy Platinum, I made a backup of Dogma, which is playing in my Sony as I type. The menus and such work as well as the original.

CVD? $150 N/A 4 of 10 Comments: Used Fast DVD Copy 1.0.2- new DVD copy software from Velan (released 03/25/2004). Burned with Apple Super Drive G4 Model to DVD-R Apple 4.7 disk. C:13 error will not play. Now I will try to Calibrate DVD, but I think I have to buy new DVD player anyway. This model is old.

Tried audio, VCD, SVCD and SVCD with the header trick on both CD-R and CD-RW media, but every time it just said "No disc". Extremely basic DVD player, no bells or whistles.

N/A 5 of 10 DivX Comments: 1. Important update I haven't seen stated clearly here before: this player DOES play SVCDs with the header trick! (see footnote) 2. Decent player but lacks many of the more refined features I've come to insist on (eg. frills of any sort) 3. Plays store bought DVDs flawlessly. I've never had any problems. 4. Will soon try out my sexy-plexy Plextor PX-708A with more to report! Footnote for SVCD folks: I used the header trick to fool the player into thinking my MPEG-2 was a VCD compliant MPEG-1. Here are the parameters of my MPEG-2 file according to PVAStrumento. VIDEO: (it's VBR MPEG-2, I promise) Resolution 352 x 480 Aspect ratio is 4:3 Frame rate 29.97 fps Nominal bitrate 1820000 bps AUDIO: (believe me, the video part was MPEG-2) MPEG-1, Layer 2 48.0 kHz, Stereo Bitrate 224 kbps Footnote for ReplayTV owners: (or, "How I burned a recorded show to a CD in only 6 minutes") I used DVArchive to grab a standard quality recording of a 30 minute show. I clipped out the commercials (without re-encoding so it only took about two minutes on my P3-450) and did the header trick in TMPGEnc (another 2 mins). Finally, I burned as a non-standard VCD in Nero onto a Lite-On branded (mfg unknown) CD-RW at 12x (yet another 2 mins) and it played with the exact same quality of output as the ReplayTV!!! Hot damn!

N/A 7 of 10 Comments: Finally got the Sony DVP-S360 to read my burned DVD's. So far i've tried it with the expensive Sony DVD+R, and the cheap OptoRite DVD-R purchased from LiveWarehouse. Both work. Initially I was ripping with DVDShrink to the harddrive, and then burning with Nero 6.0.0.19 using the OptoRite DD0203 RW burner. First time i tried it on the DVD+R that came with the burner (THAT'S DVD+R), I got a coaster, meaning my Sony would spin it up, see that it's a DVD, display the # of features on the display, and that's it.... No picture, no nothing. I thought it was a burning problem, so I read some guides, and next time instead of using DVD-Video in Nero, I went with the ISO/UDF solution. Another coaster, this time on the OptoRite DVD-R media, same issue. Both of these would read/play just fine on the computer. Went out, bought some Sony DVD+R media. Tried a different workflow. DVDDecrypter -> harddrive, CloneDVD to reauthor and burn. The result - a more expensive coaster. This one wouldn't even get recognized in the standalone OR the burner, kept getting a "No Disk" error. I figured this was an issue with CloneDVD burning, so i varied the workflow: DVDDecrypter -> harddrive, CloneDVD to reauthor and write to the HD, ImgTool to create an image, loaded and verified an image with Daemon Tools, burned in Nero. Works like a charm on both Sony DVD+R and OptoRite DVD-R media. Too many tools, and takes a while though. Not sure what the original issue was with DVDShrink and Nero, i'll revisit that next, but for now, I know that it can be done. Hope this helps someone.

N/A No rating Comments: i got a movie in svcd format its a mpeg2 file i burned it with nero selecting the SVCD option and used a princo cd. and when i put it in it said no disc. i was wondering how could i play that svcd movie in my dvd player without having to encode it and stuff cause its 3 cd long. also i saw that the sony dvp-s360 support this "MPEG1/2 ISO, plays MPEG1/MPEG2 files with no authoring" what does that mean can someone tell me?

N/A No rating Comments: I have tried several CD-R but finally I found a brand that to my amazement does work on Sony DVP-S360. I have burnt several disks using various softwares as well as disk copier and all the CD's burnt so far have been detected and played by this DVD player. This CD-R has a brand name called e3 works ( www.e3works.com ). It is a 80Min CD-R and the label on the spindle indicates PEARL WHITE HI-SPEED CD-R

I ordered BSB-100SP from http://store.yahoo.com/ioprod/bulpaccdrmed.html Be sure to specify PRINCO, because they have 2 brands they fill the order with. Got this email when I asked about the media: "Our BSB-100SP is either Lead Data or Princo. If you have a brand preference, we will ship your choice of the two if you indicate your preference in the comments section on the order form when you process your on line order."
