I gave my 3000 to my Mother a few years ago and it's still kicking. I recently started letting her borrow copies of my backed up DVDs and to my surprise they have played flawlessly in it.

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Just wanted to add more data for this player. Backed up two movies, one on DVD+R and one on DVD-R using 321Studio's DVD X Copy Xpress, a Sony DVD burner (DRU510A), and Fujifilm media. Neither the DVD+R or DVD-R worked. However, it does play CD-R. It's been a great player for the past 6 or 7 years, but like the previous poster said, it's showing it's age.

N/A No rating Comments: Great for VCDs, Great for purchased movies. I've owned it for six years, and it's still solid as a rock. Not too surprised that it won't handle DVD±R/RW though, the standards hadn't even been developed when the player was made! All in all, a great player for it's time (and still is, depending on what you need).

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Used a Sony DRU-500A burner and Sonic's "MyDVD" to burn to both DVD-R and DVD+RW (only two mediums I had available). The player would not recognize either. It appears that the only DVD medium not tested for this player is the DVD-RW, which most likely will not work either. This has been a great player. Ahead of the pack in its time, but it is showing its age.

N/A 5 of 10 Comments: At the time of release, it was number 2 in all DVD players (small list). Now with the new technologies, it is showing its lack of compatibility. Interesting that it will play CD-R but not CD-RW. I have tested newer players that would not read CD-R (laser color) but could read CD-RW (looks more like DVD silver...again laser color) Cannot read all portions of a multi session disk...just the first session. So beautiful picture but no new features, etc. Also not compatible with DTS...not a problem for me, I don't even like DTS at the theater, but might be a problem for someone else.

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Using a HP 2001 DVD burner and HP DVD+R media I was unable to get an MPEG2 home movie to work. Player does not recognize the disk.
