Comments:
Good compatibility and more outputs than you can shake a stick at, specifically it has two SCARTS as well as the component, composite and S video output.
Progressive scan from the component sockets has a selector switch, seletable form menu, always progressive or always interlaced.

Image quality is very nice and the bass is a little more controlled than other sony units i've heard. cd replay is ok, but i have a cd player anyway. not tested SACD, but it's there if i want it.

Unit is very solid feeling, and the remote is nicely laid out - i know where all the buttons are without looking already. also allows control of your TV which works fine for mine.

Comments:
After 5 years, I've decided to upgrade from a Sony DVP-S725D to the NS930.
Comparisons:
This unit is more compatible with CD/DVD formats, and have better Video quality and tech specs, but LESS features.
It also takes a LONG time to recognise media, at least about 3 seconds longer than the DVP-S725.
It can only remember 40 disks to the 200 of the DVP-S725.
You cannot name these disks like in the DVP-S725.
It cannot store a picture in memory.
It doesn't have a Jog shuttle dial on the remote like the DVP-S725.
However, not than a lot of people have probably used any of the mentioned features, so I'm still giving it an 8.

Comments:
Really good player. Easy to set up and use. My first player was superb Pioneer DV-717 and this one is even better. Lot of picture tweaks come handy with my Sony KP-48PS2 projection TV. Haven't tried SACD yet because I'm still using "only" stereo sound. Could be easier to convert to multiregion (didn't do it yet - HELP!!!) but hey - no pain, no gain. Only bad thing is remote control layout.

Comments:
Superb picture (Video DAC 108MHz/12bit) and sound quality (Audio DAC 192kHz/24bit), nothing comes even close in this price range. PAL and NTSC Progressive scan (both work). SACD sounds fab! and in order to play 6 channels it must have 6 analog connections! It also plays all SVCD, VCD that I had a problems with on other players, as well as non branded DVD-R's. The "Precision Drive 2 & Dynamic Tilt Compensation" are not so good, a few dvds have skipped and paused cos the player is very sensitive to any scratches and/or dust on dvds. Anyway I feel it is still worth 9/10 for the image and sound performance especially at this price. Highly recommended!

Picture and sound quality good. Has played DVD-R consistently. DataWrite 4x (Red Top) and BigPockets 4x (Same as DataWrite 4x yellow top) burned with Sony DRU-500a using RecordNow Max & Nero.

Comments:
Also plays DTS-CDs (either through S/PDIF or 5.1 analog connectors), SACD only through analog though. :-(
