CVD? $700 over 1 year 10 of 10 Comments: Second comment. after using this machine for 4 years the short news. with some brands there are problems, in my case with the Samsung Pleomax +R 8x, white surface. writing with the NEC 4550 works fine, Disc Quality by Nero ditto (95 o 97%), but even the small errors cause interrupts. But: a Fuji -R, 8x, with horrible failures in the Disc Quality (0%) the player had no problems. And the one -R Doublelayer (Verbatim) works fine. (burned with CloneDVD- yes I know, only supports +R DL, but it worked!!)

CVD? $? over 1 year 10 of 10 Comments: would buy it again, if it would have DVD Audio too, but this is impossible by the Sony - politics..... fine machine, i was surprised it played every DVD plus or minus, R or RW, even the films with 100 minutes on one CD.

CVD? $200 over 1 year 9 of 10 Comments: Just wanted to let everyone know, this player works with the new DL DVD's from Verbatim. Ripped with DVD Decrypter and burned with NERO (Phillips DVD drive from Dell) 61 minutes total time (20 for the rip and 41 for the burn).

MP3 WMA CVD $? over 1 year No rating miniDVD/cDVD JPG/JPEG DVD-JPG DVD-WMA DVD-MP3 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG DivX MPEGISO DVD-MPEGISO DVD-RAM Comments: Excellent picture quality (tested on RGB and YPbCr outputs, using Faroudja capable projector), excelent sound quality (listening test in the 2 groups of 5 people) playing SACD test and favorite discs. The player is able to play dual-layer DVD+R9 discs!! Re-focus on 2nd layer is shorter the in pressed original discs, hardly visible!!! The only problem is the you cannot use timesearch back (Fast Rewing while watching) over the layerbreak back to layer 0. Only chance to go back is to skip by chapter.

This player has all the features I want in a DVD player (except maybe a buffer for seamless layer-change).

No support for MP3, but who cares? It sounds so much better with SACD and cd-audio. It seems like SVCD chapters and subtitles does not work on this player. The build quality and finish is very high. I'm very pleased with this awsome machine.

I have only quickly tested SVCD, which plays perfectly, the on screen menus even show S-VCD for the type of disc being played ;-). God knows why Sony don't state SVCD in the specification. I am impressed, hope XSVCD plays OK as stated by many reviews on this site. Hope SACD is as good quality, will have to buy a SACD to test it. Neil

Xvcd 352-288 2500kbits works also fine.
