Awesome!!....Plays my backed-up movies on Verbatim Dual Layer discs perfectly. I burned them using a NEC-3540. I bitset to DVDROM (very easy). I don't know if it will work without doing this...

So far I have found this player to work perfectly with the following DVD media: Memorex DVD+R (RICOHJPNR00); Memorex DVD+R (RICOHJPNR01); Memorex DVD+RW (MBIPG101W03); Verbatim DVD+RW (CMC MAG.W01); TDK DVD+R (CMC MAG.E01); TDK DVD+R (RICOHJPNR02); Fujifilm DVD+R (RICOHJPNR00); Fujifilm DVD+R (YUDEN000T02); Maxell DVD+R (MAXELL..002); Maxell DVD-R (RITEKG05....); CompUSA DVD+RW (INFODISCA10); Sony DVD+RW (RICOHJPNW01); RiData DVD+R (RICOHJPNR01). I have burned well over a hundred of each type of media listed above and have experienced no skipping or read errors with this player as well as many other players. I use a NEC-3520A writer, DVDShrink, burned with CopytoDVD, checked for read errors and compared DVD-Video files with DVDInfoPro. To date I have had only one bad disc out of thousands and that was my fault, which DVDInfoPro caught. This player has never failed to recognize a disc or play it.I would highly recommend to others if you are looking for a player with these features and excellent picture quality...alot better than any other player I have seen so far.

After spending considerable time reading reviews on this site, I went with this player. My goal was to get a quality player that was forgiving on media and could handle as many formats as possible. (esp.JPEG) My Oritron could play JPEG's but couldnt play burned movies to save its life. (though it was listed as such) I had to borrow my g-friends 2 year old Sony to play my rips. Only problem with the sony was, it would always restart the movie if the DVD (Pressed or Burned) had a bad spot. My older JVC would at least fight through it and continue on. ( hough it might take several minutes)
This player rocks! When watching those same DVD's with the bad spots, you get a split second jump ahead 3 seconds in the movie. It appears that it does it in 3 second blocks until your beyond the bad spot. All this takes place in the blink of an eye. (very smooth transition) I have tried Verbatum, Rietk and Taiyo Yuden. All good. My choice is Taiyo Yuden dvd-R for the quality and compatabilty. 50/50 burn success rate so far. Also, the JPEG viewing speed, blows away my Oritron. I am very pleassed with this JPEG feature. I would also like to thank this site all of you who took time to post here. It was a great help. |

Just got this player and it plays everything I own perfectly. I had just recently bought the Sony 575 but it skipped and stuttered about 3/4 of the way through when I tried to play my Ridata dual layers. This one plays the Ridata dual layers and the +RWs perfectly. I have also tested Verbatim +R and -R. Everything I own plays pefect in this player!!!

I was looking for a DVD player with two simple options that I needed (which was replacing my Panasonic A120 which no longer reads DVD+Rs), one was optical audio output and the other was auto save and auto resume without having to press an additional "save" button while powering off. This DVD met my needs except opened another issue which is driving me nuts. From the time I press play to when a movie resumes from the last save point, it takes 25 seconds to start! My old Panasonic player takes less than 5 seconds to resume. I really don't care about not having VCD, SVCD or even WMA on this player, but to take that long to load a movie is ridiculous. I'll be returning this player and looking for another option.

I've had a Sony for the past 3 years. The DVP-NS715P. It's like night and day. At the time the 715 was $200 and considered great for that price range. The 775V was $139 and is a lot better. Right off the bat I noticed a overall better looking picture. My acid test dvd's looked a LOT better. Played a Memorex DVD-R and Verbatim DVD-R/RW. All played fine. I was never realy big on progressive scanning till I saw this one for my self. Instant difference even on great looking dvd's... they looked even better. Smooth transition, remote is the same and my multi remote used the same program number. Only knock, the cord is short.

I was looking for a DVD player that was rated to play all DVD +/- and R/RW formats and also had an optical out. So far I've played all my dvd +/-rs, mp3 cd, and jpeg cd's I've put in without any clipping or freezing. The picture and sound are very sharp and crisp especially compared to my older (cheap) dvd players. Basically this player has the features of the other DVP-NS700 model but with a better 12 Bit/108MHz Video DAC, same the 800 models. It also will play mp3s with your jpegs. Highly recommended if you're looking for a low cost highly versatile player.
