CVD? $? over 1 year No rating JPG/JPEG DivX DVD-MPEGISO DVD-RAM Comments: I pointed out that the player does not support the DVD+R DL (dual layer) disks. It is possible to play only the first layer, not the second one. There is no possible firmware upgrade available at sony. It is amaizing, because the player has the same chipset as DVP-LS785V and DVP-NS32, both of them support the DVD+R DL. Any comment about this ... ????

Cannot play XviD, but simple changing the 4CC to divx/DX50, that's ok! Also, it can plays subtitle Divx with Xsub new format, from new Divx6 Media Format. Also, it can plays new DivX6 Media format, except for the interactive menus. IT can plays both PAL/NTSC DVD. But here, he principal system is PAL, so I see it in black/white... but I think it's a TV problem...

CVD? $175 14 days 6 of 10 MP3 long filename DivX Comments: +very good picture quality, +good handling (menu), +solid quality feeling, -no divx subtitles (that's why rated 6 only!), -no xvid playback (player shows "DivX error"). Changing FourCC to DivX enables playback of Xvid files, but playback is not always smooth (dropped frames). -seems no firmware will ever be available.

Sometimes slow during tray opening and closing, reading. Excellent picture and sound. Reads XviD only if you change fourcc (try K-Lite). With some DivX files sound lags picture.

Divx freezes sometimes, not in computer.

Does not allow manually selecting pal/ntsc in divx playback (always pal) and thus some jerkiness in 23.976 film playback.
