CVD? $? 21 days 10 of 10 Comments: I give it a ten because I only have one problem, I use a torrent client to download series, I use convertxtoDVD to convert them, most of my discs work, except for the last ones, when there is not enough info on the disc, I get an error that says it cannot be played due to area limitations, the same disc works on one of my older players, otherwise, no problems, love the 6 disc auto resume memory feature!

CVD? $? over 1 year 8 of 10 JPG/JPEG MPEGISO Comments: This has been an amazing little player. Unlike others who commented, we were able to play PAL DVD's on it and it played without any jitter or any other problems. We just used IFOEDIT to alter the attributes. Other than the +RW, we haven't run across anything it won't play. I suppose it's considered old by now, and new players have many more features and capabilities, but we are still happy with this player.

This is a pretty good player, BUT it dose have a few problems as pointed out by other and now me. It will not play PAL DVD's, I have tried the following and still it will not play. I removed/changed the region code, I edited the IFO's to make it NTSC, i tried the hack posted by others and it still will not play a PAL DVD. It is not the region code that it dis likes i think it is the frames or video format it rejects. It dose not display the long MP3 filenames, it cuts tem off and so all songs show up as say "eric clapton-crossro". How only puts one album on a MP3 CD, we all put more then one album and either have folders or use artist\album\track in the name. It will not paly a DVD with MP3's on it. Other then those three problems it works well but has a crap menu and remote.

CVD? $80 360 days 3 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-JPG DVD-MP3 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG DivX XviD MPEGISO DVD-MPEGISO Comments: 1)Takes forever to load a disk, startup and shut-off 2)Very unrealiable playback of DVD+R and DVD+RW (Skips,Jumps or Freezes). 3)Menu is confusing and plain stupid 4)DVD media is recognized as video so Mpgs and Jpegs in DVD media are not usable. 5)Nested directories in some CDs causes a jump to the "root" dir instead of going inside the next level.Only in some but, who have the time to research Why. 6) Long file names are not displayed so if you Mp3`s have the same name Prefix you have to guess the name of the song. For that and another set of glitches is the worst value for the money Sony product i ever buy. As Sony fan; i hate to say this but at this price range you can get another solid perfomance player and get more features in the proccess.

I try the same DVD media wit my old Sony DVP-NS300 and play to 100%.

Disk burned using LiteOn 1633S with BSOS firmware.

CVD? $? 7 days 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-JPG Comments: This player through everything I had at it. Including suspicious bootleg VCD's. After owning it for a week, I spotted it's newest sibling, DVP-NS41P. It is the same player, with a few tweaks. The remote is MUCH improved over the 575's. It plays sound when FF/REW. And it has a higher D/A conversion rate. I can't find it anywhere on Google, but it is at Sam's club. CHECK IT OUT.

CVD? $80 180 days 9 of 10 DVD-MP3 DivX Comments: Plays almost everything I try to play on it. Will not play dvd'd that have mp3's on them. I wish Sony made a player that supported DVD-mp3 as I have thousands of mp3 files and don't see myself burning them to cd's. I have tried the Philips 642 and was not impressed with the quality of the Philips. It does not compare to the Sony.

Seems to play everything.Comp.USA,Fuji,Maxell,Teac,Sony,Staples.Only problems I've had is operator error when burning my backups.

CVD? $? 1 days 10 of 10 Comments: So far very happy with this unit. I bought a Philips 642 and it would play my +r but I have 2 -r and it would not play them. I wanted a player that would play +r/rw and -r/rw and this one seems to fit the bill perfectly. The 2 -r disks that would not play in the Philips play perfectly in this unit. I also have a +r that apparently has some sort of problem. It is good media (Maxell +r 8x) so I don't know what the problem is but it would freeze on the Philips and 2 other players (Toshiba and Sanyo). It plays perfectly in the Sony. I would definitely recommend this unit for anyone who is having trouble playing their burned disks.

CVD? $80 7 days 9 of 10 DVD-MP3 Comments: A little slow initializing and reading, but plays and reads everything it says it will. Have used Verbatim DVD+R(4x) and DVD+RW(2.4x) and Ritek DVD+R(8x) and DVD+RW(4x) and some generic DVD-R and reads them all, no issues. I was using the later version PS2 to play my DVD's but it had issue with some DVD+RW's so I upgraded to this player. I am glad I did. Just make sure if want digital audio, you have digital coax (6.1 type) inputs since this player does not have digital optical outputs.

Hopefully there's some other hack for this since it seems that this model is sold worldwide, granted some sites selling it disclaim that PAL DVD's cannot be played on NTSC televisions with this player. I don't have any non-region 0/1 DVDs, but the instructions at http://www.selen.org/sonydvd.html seem to have worked (it doesn't display "SUCCESS" in step 7) -- the NS575 /is/ listed at the above site. I'll update once confirmed. All in all, I am very happy with this player. It's very media-friendly (I have yet to experience any media that it won't load). I don't have a progressive scan capable television, so I cannot comment on its PS quality, but it looks great on my 32" SD TV. It's wonderful that there are no pauses in between the tracks on Blue Man Group's "Audio" DTS Audio CD -- many of the tracks blend into one another, and most other players I've tried had gaps of silence when switching to the next track. Not much more to add than what's already been posted. Again, I am very happy with this unit. If you're in the market, it's definitely worth consideration.

Any brand of media, from every burner I own. Picture quality is outstanding. Excellent features. I bought a second one for the bedroom. It's that good.

CVD? $? 150 days 9 of 10 Comments: This player has no problems playing Verbatim DVD+R DL discs burnt with a Pioneer 108 and DVD Decrypter. It doesn't evan pause as it goes over the layer break.

I could really care less about SVCD or VCD or xvid or any of that other stuff. Will test DVD+R Dual Layer eventually, but from reading other reports here they apparently work.

CVD? $? 1 days No rating Comments: This post is just to let people know this DOES play DVD+DL when burnt using bitsetting, friend has one and it plays them perfectly. I do not have a non bitset DVD+DL, dont want to waste one for that purpose only. So if you have this and you burn DVD+DL, simply set them to DVD-ROM and you wont have a problem.

I want a player that is compatible with DVD+R DL disks and this was Sony's reply: "The DVP-NS575P/S Sony DVD Player is not compatible with DVD+R Double-layer Disks. It features the Sony's Precision Cinema Progressive and new Precision Drive 2 systems, with which you will get a picture that is more faithful to the source, video or film, and virtually free of errors that warped discs can produce. It also lets you listen to MP3 music with ease." If you want to play DL disks, this is NOT the player for you.

CVD? $80 60 days 10 of 10 Comments: My previous Toshiba SD3800 player would frequently pause, stutter, and stop when playing DVD-Rs. I reasearched extensively what the possible causes could be. I tried all kinds of media (Ritek, Be-All, and other realatively good media), all kinds of ripping and burning software (DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, Nero, DVDXcopy, etc.) and various "back-up" procedures and setting. I could not solve my problem. I was very frustrated. Then I simply replaced my Toshiba SD3800 with the Sony DVP-NS575P player and now all my DVD-Rs play perfectly. I haven't tried other formats, because all I wanted as a player that would play DVD-Rs without problems. I found one!
