Tested: Media: - CD - very old CD with many scratches - overburned CD - CD-RW (72 and 80 min.) - DVD-R - DVD-RW - DVD+R - DVD+RW Formats: Audio CD MP3 on CD-RW - CBR and VBR, bitrate 192 VCD - CBR normalised and not normalised SVCD - CBR SVCD - VBR DVD original DVD - prepared by MyDVD DVD with MP3 Only 2 of formats didn't work - VCD-CBR-not normalised (totally frozen player) and DVD-MP3(unable to read the disc). It seems to me as a good choise to my Sony 1080 receiver (competitor in my privat tender was Philips 743)

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: The spec for the 430 on this site needs correcting? This is not a multi-disc player and the Sony U/G claims that Kodak PhotoCD is NOT supported. Note the User Guide claims DVD-R and DVD-RW is supported as well as +. I've only tried my own VCD compilations made on cheap media with Nero Vision Exp and they work fine complete with Menus and Chapters. Selecting VCD Clips and Chapter points via the Display button menu options doesn't work (U/G appears to be wrong) but selection in other ways does. This player DOES have selectable S-Video via the SCART socket - not mentioned by Sony in their marketing literature. Great product.

DVD+R (Imation, Datawrite,HP,) DVD+RW (HP) MP3 is ok too. You can see it's tracks on screen. There are a lot of things that you can manage. This is a good player.
