CVD? $? over 1 year 3 of 10 Comments: Plays commercial movies flawlessly. Very erratic performance when I burn DVD-R (hp, Verbatim) movies on my Mac using either iDVD or Toast 7.0.2 most parts of a QuickTime movie play all right. Video is consistently good. But seemingly random bits of voice-overs (I work in FCP with music and voice-overs) drop out cmpletely here and there. Other DVD players play these same DVDs with no drop outs. I will buy a new DVD player.

True, it does not like certain combinations of burn software/disc. Like Tsunami DVD author with DVD-R won't play but +R is fine; while -R with various other burning softwares works perfect. WILL play jpeg on CD-r or DVD-r. WILL play mp3's on CD-r or DVD-r. Plays VCD, including CD-r. I did a lot of research before buying this one, and I got it not for a lot of frills and bells and whistles, but because it is a workhorse that will play just about any disc you throw at it. If you want to play divx, got get another cheaper. But this SONY will play your DVD movies with no problems.

CVD? $? 90 days 5 of 10 Comments: It will not play DVD-R movies burnt with Pinnacle Studio 9. It indicates a brand new DVD as "DVD is dirty". The disk is good and plays well on my old Panasonic deck. It did play a DVD-R movie burnt with Roxio 7.5. Not satisfied, I will have to buy another player so I can view my home/vacation videos.

CVD? $70 30 days No rating Comments: Writable DVDs that work: TDK DVD-R 8x 4.7GB 120MIN (silver). I think they were bought at Target. I burned them at 2x with a Mac mini (Matshita UJ-835F drive) and Roxio Toast/Popcorn.

Does not read JPEG/MPEG. Quite disappointed with this Sony Product. My Daewoo DVDS-150 reads all the above ok, and costs much less! Returning to Sam's Club!

CVD? $70 1 days No rating Comments: Just bought it at Costco and will return it. Recognizes DVD in DVD-R format but plays it fast--squeaky voices and all.
