CVD? $? 2 days No rating Comments: I got myself some movies in xvid and burned it on DVD totaly about 4GB. Updated the firmwire from sony website so that it can play xvid but unfortunately when I insert the DVD to the player, it doesnt play at all...what could be the problem?

I would always chose this player rather than any B-brand player.

Siempre salen bandas negras arriba y abajo incluso con peliculas 16:9.

No random feature for mp3[VERY BAD THIS]. IPAY FOR THEM 79 EUROS FROM PRACTICER GREECE THE SAME ON CAREFFOUR NS-33 COST 79 EUROS.

Never seen a player at that price tag with such good usability (scrolling long filenames in VFD, navigation without TV OSD quite usable, the remote controls your TV as well)! The FourCC change for XViD is a pain in the backside though and it fails miserably on mixed content media in only providing access to the AVI content, not the MP3s or JPGs...

CVD? $125 30 days 7 of 10 DVD-JPG DivX Comments: I post again because I find it is anoying that the player choose automatically the Data DVD type (MPEG / MP3 / DivX). I tried to read a photo album which contains some AVI files I made with my camera. Because of these AVI files, the player decided this DVD is a DivX DVD and refused to read the JPEG files. This is quite boring. So I change my rating from 8 to 7. I think I will stop to be a Sony fan.

Browsing very simple (list of all folders and subfolders displayed in the same scrollable page), but too limited and rigid. It does not show the whole file list, but filters "a priori". If the disc contains a Divx file, only divx files are listed. Jpeg are browsed by using a preview showing 12 pictures at a time. Mp3 can be listed as usual. No chance to play "free" mpeg files (mpegiso). Text subtitles in Divx seem not supported.

CVD? $125 1 days 8 of 10 DVD-JPG DivX Comments: Excellent picture quality. Better than Philips DVP 3010 (which for the same price adds YUV and progressive scan). Reads multi session DVD-ROMs. Long names are fully displayed. Not limited to 14 characters as on some units. Limited only by the screen width. I am not a DIVx fan, but I tried some. Approximately 5 over 10 were OK. Dont't ask me what kind of DIVx or xVID it was. A detail could be easily improved in picture viewing : when thumbnail display is slow, let us move to the next thumbnail page even if all thumbnails have not been displayed. Please Sony, send me the source code so I can add the few missing lines. Another detail that is so so : when a DVD-ROM has several file types (pictures, videos), let us choose the type instead of refusing to read the DVD saying "Divx data error". I presume the videos were of a wrong type, but I am sure the pictures were OK. But these are details. Globally a very good unit that I'll keep. I won't use my refund rights. Fred.
