| É realmente um grande aparelho, visto que reproduz uma variedade de marcas de mídia, das genéricas àos grandes fabricantes. É o melhor para quem deseja estabilidade e bom desempenho, e não está nem aí para dvix ou svcd. O design peca pelo botão no painel frontal (ultra-saliente, super-antiquado e desnecessário). O controle remoto é enorme, porém as funções não justificam o tamanho (são limitadas). |

paid $15.81 + tax a week or so ago.
display unit, just like the samsung, scratches on top... pressing play knob isn't recognized -- no action.
it makes a weird quick tapping noise (very low) when playing dvd+r... also got a c:13 error/dirty disc or something (once). took it out, blew on it, put it back in, ran fine. googled and the model number came back with a bbs that a lot of sony owners were complaining about that same error. got nervous and bought the samsung as a backup, but think i'll make it the main one now... because i got a remote and a manual this time around :D plus the samsung has most of the necessary buttons on the unit, as opposed to the remote -- i put my universal back in the box! |

Didn't cost much, but doesn't play much either!
OK for regular DVD and music CD. Plays MPEG1 VCD (low quality) and audio MP3.
Only plays SVCD if it is burnt with the "Header Trick". So I burn my SVCD's with the Header trick but they don't play on any of my friends' DVD players... Talk about compatibility!!!
The remote control of my Sony WEGA TV works OK on it, including the number pad.
Should have bought a JVC or something more compatible... |

| Good player for regular dvd's. Does play vcd's fine, although one came out upside down, go figure. The best part about this dvd player is that it has NO MACROVISION by default. Thats sweet. The remote is kinda stupid with no numbers, but Im sure one of those multi function remotes would do the trick. Mp3's sound nice. All in all is a good machine. |

Plays all commercial DVD's. Play my DVD's authored with Premier 6.5 and Pioneer A03 or HP 200e. Also plays DVD authored with DVDit PE. Plays all my backups of commerical DVD which I've backed-up with DVDXcopy 1.31. I'm quite happy with this unit.

| I like this player. It has a nice slim look. It plays my vcd's and svcd's perfectly, with no need for header tricks. However, it won't play xvcd properly for me. Sound just pauses and starts thru the whole thing, and its WAY out of sync. Also, the remote control doesnt come with a number pad, which makes buying some special edition dvd's pointless, cause you cant enter codes to get special features. Nor can you enter codes to make it region free. Get something else. |

First thing I tried was an SVCD, and didn't work. I was extremely disappointed, but after reading a little found the "Header Trick" and know this lovely machine has accepted almost everything I've through at it....even the worst & cheapest CD-Rs.
The VCD (SVCD + Header Trick) image & sound quality is superb, really a great Stand alone DVD player.
I’ve even tried XVCD and, apart from loosing some zones on the sides, it plays them great. That side thing (overscan I think it is called) is a TV problem I think.

| Plays 99 minute CD-R's right to the end of the disk which the Apex 1200 and Pioneer 353 would not. Plays XVCD well, which the RCA 350 would not. Will not play JPEG files but will if burnt as VCD. Reads disks and starts up quickly. Remote control could be better but I am impressed overall. |

This DVD player goes well with VCD, DVD and ourselft made for mp3 cd. As long that i've this machine i've never got any skip frame, even non-standard homemade VCD format plays well without any problems.
The design of the DVD-player is well, but the remote control hasn't a nice looking. However, it's has a standard shape who make this one easy-to-use like the old kind of video player.
For thoose who has problem in english, will maybe be upset, that the option are only in english. However, it's always possible to play track and subtitle in our foreign language.
If you want fast-foward, you'll have to go by scenes, because their no fast-foward, only slow motion and normal play.
At all, this DVD player doesn't have a tons of opition, but it play at perfection, without any frame skip everything that the opitions are done for! In fact, this DVD player has more stability than the others player that I try who was well named. |

| All I know is that Used 5 brands of media and all ran fine. DVD that is. It played DVD-R,+R,+RW. I havent't tryed the DVD-RW. VCD worked fine. Remote is the typical bulky that sony put out on most of there players. I bought this at Circuit City after being discusted with the AMPEX-1200, I bought two of them and they sucked. I took all different media with me and would not buy this player if they wouldn't let me try it in the store first. I am thinking of buying the 415 model for my main system for it has optical which this doesn't. |

| Burned 10 disks for a client from a Betacam SP master over a period of time using Princo, Maxell, Pioneer and stock purchased from a replicator called Provac using a Panasonic DMR-E20. Three worked perfectly but seven did not experiencing freezing, dirty disk warning etc. |

Found this at best buy for $93 before a $30 mail in rebate, so I grabbed it to replace my old toshiba 3109.
Picture quality is good, audio quality is much better than my old Toshiba. Plays VCD both CD-R (memorex, TDK, samsung) and RW(phillips) with out a hitch. Won't play a SVCD, will have to try the tmpgenc trick to see if that works. VCDs were OK quality, but that is a VCD issue. MP3 and burned wave files (Nero) play just fine. Audio Quality is much improved over very old cd player and Toshiba DVD.
My biggest gripe is that the on screen menus are very unintuitive. They are all picture icons rather than in english (or any language) and so navigating is not simple and manual is not very clear. If there is a zoom function on this, I haven't found it. So my view is that it is a good basic dvd player for $63, but if you have a HDTV you might want better. |

| Nice player. Plays Hypermedia DVD-R general purpose disk that my over 1 year old Apex AD-1100 would not play. Nice player, nice menus and controls, easy setup but big drawback is lack of SVCD support. This may have to go back to Best Buy in exchange for the $50 Mintek :-) |

Excellent DVD. The only problem is that the remote doesn't have numbers.
Plays TDK, Maxell, Memorex, Verbatim, both R and RW. Didn't test other CD brands.
As mentioned, SVCD is not supported, but it plays SVCD (MPEG-2) encoded with TMPGEnc (VCD Header Trick).
It was a little bit tricky, but finaly I did it. My main problem was burning. I use Nero Express, VCD option.
I had to switch to Nero Classic because in this interface there is a question about non-standard format and I can click on Continue without encoding. Then, it works super fine.
In Nero Express, there is no such a question so it re-encodes the file and the image is poor.
I used Maxell RW CD to do the tests with VCD and SVCD and I rewrited my CD at least 10 times (it payed-off itself :).
I tried to encode with MPEG-2 (480x480,Automatic VBR, constant quality: 90) and everything was great. The same with 720x480, but I didn't notice any difference in image quality. Tried with manual VBR, but with bitrate of 3000 or more, the image was bouncing. I abandoned this option.
I have no idea how Nero mwnus should work, but I see them and use my remote to select the number I want to play. Changes the menu page (if more than one).
MP3 works fine, audio CD, too and the sound is incredibly good. I even hear some details I couldn't hear with my Technics CD changer.
I really like this DVD. Great player and not expensive.

I bought this player for $199 CAN. I didnt test much on it but it played every VCD i threw at it using different CD-R media (sony, tdk, epro and cheapos). My VCD's were authored with TMPGEnc and burnt with Nero at 32x speeds. It doesn't have the greatest search/fastforward functions either.
If all you are looking for is a DVD/VCD player this one was nice and will do the job.
However, I returned it for something with more compatability. I bought a JVC XVS-500BK for the same price. Will write a review on that one later.

| Do not like the remote and do not like the features, It plays the media that I threw at it well though fugie-film -r's and some lame -rw disk that came with my pioneer 105. Mostlikly gonna return and look for something with better features! |
