CVD? $? over 1 year 5 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-JPG DivX XviD Comments: If you look in any of these reply's you see that this dvd-player supports Multisystem PAL/NTSC Convert. But is this really true? Can this dvd-player convert NTSC dvd's to a PAL output and can it convert PAL dvd's to a NTSC output? Cause I got a tv that only plays PAL, and when I hook this dvd-player to it, it only plays in Black and White. And I've looked everywhere, but I can't find a function to put it to PAL-output. Does anyone knows if it's possible, to put it to PAL-output?

CVD? $? over 1 year 6 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: I should have rated "9" before I tried to playback the backup on a RITEKG04 DVD-R of an original DVD movie I own. At about 3/4 of the movie, the system hangs, then loops on a previous chapter OR hangs completely ... Tested on different movies : same results. NO PROBLEM to playback the DVD-R on my PC ... Burning tools : DVD Decrypter / NERO 606

I've tried doing a SVCD with a head of a VCD and it read it with very very problems, so, who is the people who says it reads SVCD and why, or how do they do it?

A lot of your same dvd players are capable of playing svcd and even xvcd... now, these two formats are very useful for me as i have a notebook and don't ask how much does a new dvd recored cost... so i was hoping to find a better solution here and was very exciting at first when i heard some of you that you just went to the local sony service and get it updated there, but no such luck for me (they said that they here this for the fisrt time). So then i heard you talking about the header trick and something about f... but what is a header trick? I can't find any answers about this trick and many of you did it and was succesful... and is f updatable? Can just please somebody help me? It works with all CD-R and read Mp3 whitout problem. It also plays DVD - R burnt in video Mode with standard DVD burning software. <-(I tested) To me it's one of the Chip and best DVD player. ;)

CVD? $150 N/A 9 of 10 DivX Comments: Has yet to refuse a single brand of DVD+R I've tried - which includes Verbatim, Mirror, Intenso, Datawrite, Bulkpaq, Arita. Has even played unbranded DVD+RWs. Decent enough picture and sound, and for less than £100 was a real bargain.

I can only burn VCD's and SVCD's, neither work, machine was purchased in the UK and is only 6 months old, gift from my daughter.

N/A 10 of 10 JPG/JPEG MP3 long filename Comments: This player is great!!! I bought it about 2 years ago and didn't have any problem whatsoever. Both picture and sound are great, and it's quite easy to use too. I have tried a wide variety of cd-r(w) and dvd +/- r(w) and all of them work perfectly. Even the cheap ones it plays without any problem. Before I got my dvd rewriter (Nec ND-1300A with Nero 6.3), I used both an old Philips (6x2x2) and a Lite-on (48x12x48) cd rewriter to make VCD's (Using Nero 5.5). All of them worked fine. I even tried SVCD with the header trick and that also worked o.k. I don't know what all the fuss is about regarding svcd? Clearly this has become an obsolete standard, now dvd rewriters have become quite cheap. There is only one thing that could have been better regarding mp3 playback. It can only read the first 200 files on a cd-r(w) Note that a folder is also seen as a file, so when you make, let's say 20 folders, you can only play 180 mp3's(even if you can fit more on your dics) Personally I hardly find this a problem, because when using a higher bitrate (like 192 Kbps)you can only fit about 120 tracks on a 700 MB cd-r(w). I can reccomend this player to anyone (and forget about (s)vcd, just buy a DVD-rewriter).

N/A No rating Comments: I have firmware 1.711 (purchased September 2002), and would like to be able to play svcd on my Sony DVP-NS305. Sony Nederland charges EUR 35,- for an upgrade (even if the purchase would be within the guarantee period). This is quite expensive compared to the purchase price! I am disappointed in Sony NL after having read earlier posts here. BTW. In order to check firmware: put DVD player on stand-by; press (on remote) 'top menu' , 'clear' , 'stand-by' The firmware (revision nr.) is shown on the screen of your tv.

It now plays also SVCD *hurrraaaaaaa* Just a hint or tip if you would like to get it also updated FOR FREE at Sony - mention that your father or brother has bought the same one a week ago and it perfectly plays SVCD and yours not !!!!! Make a little pressure and within 2 weeks you will get the update

CVD? $200 N/A 5 of 10 Comments: SVCD problems : Based on the information found in this forum I brought my DVP-NS305 Silver to SONY Austria today. I bought it last in August 2002. The Firmware is 1.711 not playing SVCD. SONY is aware of this , telling me that at the point of selling there was no need for implementing SVCD. But nevertheless I will get a Firmwareupdate for free. I suggest all having Firmware lower than 1.901 to do like me. It also seems that SONY started to be able to change Firmware just with 30x & 40x Series. I now have to wait for one week to get it back updated and will inform about having success or not.

DVD+R was created with Pinnacle Studio 8. Have to try Nero as well later on Firmware is 1.8101 and the modelno. on the red screen(top menu; clear; power) says its a dcp-1600ec1.

A todos esos q dicen q este dvd no lee vcd o svcd tengo q decirles q a mi me los lee perfectamente y a gran calidad. Yo creo q es problema de su conversion. Les aconsejo: convertir con tmpgenc y grabar con nero en formato vcd o svcd. Con respecto a los dvd-r tengo q decir q tb los lee y q creo unos dvd de video de puta madre... Herramientas: convertir a mpeg2 con tmpgenc, de-multiplexar con tmpgenc, auditar y grabar con dvdmaestro... Todo sale fino fino...

N/A No rating Comments: petit complément à mon précédent post. - le menu d'un SVCD créé via Nero ne s'affiche pas. Le CD affiche seulement le nombre de pistes et commence par le premier film. - le niveau sonore de ce même SVCD est très fort alors que le clip d'origine (avant Tmpgenc) ne l'est pas. On approche la saturation. - un VCD du commerce (Digital Disc Entertainments) est lu en noir et blanc alors qu'une lecture sur PC affiche correctement la couleur. même les fonctions OSD du lecteur Sony sont noir et blanc dès l'insertion du VCD et redeviennent en couleur dès son éjection. Suis à la recherche de propriétaires ayant constaté ces mêmes symptômes et (mieux encore) disposant de pistes de recherche EXPLICATIVES ! cordialement

The box has (EC1) (EC2) (CEK) But no line ?? over that is a sticker the says (CEK) with a line under it ???? and its Silver ... So mine dont add up ? Its silver, no line under the EC1 and its Version 1.901 and play JPG pics ?????
