MP3 VBR WMA VBR CVD? $250 N/A 7 of 10 Comments: Overall Great DVD player, the only problem have found with the player is it won't play the vcd's we burn using roxio easy cd creator. although it says vcd its lying because the lasers are different for cdr's and dvdr's. The reaon is because it doesnt have a mp3 player, it will play the mp3's you burn but it doesnt have the reader to play the video. That is the only thing i found wrong with the player.

N/A 9 of 10 Comments: This DVD play works great for my needs. I only needed a good DVD player that plays all DVD-Recordable media. It plays DVD-r/rw and DVD+r/rw. I have use Princo, Verbatim, Riteks, Apple, and other cheapos. I only give it a 9 because I havent tested all the features and because its tray is a little noisey. For all those that say it will not play DVD-Recordable media, learn how to burn a proper DVD before you complain.

N/A 7 of 10 Comments: Burned a disc with iDVD, and when I popped it in, it said it couldn't play because the DVD was being played in the wrong region. iDVD burns region free. Sony support says that machine doesn't support DVD-R, which isn't necessarily true...it supported DVD-R for authoring. The man on the phone insisted that it wasn't supported. Sony blows. Other than that, has been a good machine.

N/A No rating Comments: Hi Guyz, I was having problems with my SONY DVP-NC600 playing all SVCD's so i decided to look into it. I found if you have a SVCD which works fine in one of your OTHER Stand Alone DVD PLayers all you have to do it change the header of the SVCD to VCD and it tricks the SONY DVO-NC600 into playing a SVCD (super video cd) perfectly.... CVD? $150 N/A 6 of 10 Comments: I bought this changer a week ago coz it was on sale. and still is. This is a fairly good starter package for a dvd-changer since it is kinda cost-effective at $150-$170. Picture and sound playback qualities and features are good. Good number of standard digital and analog/rca connectors. The only major complaint with this changer is the fragile tray-loader mechanism. You _must_ really use the remote or the push-button to open/close the tray-loader. If the tray-loader gets bumped _ accidentally_, even with minor soft to moderate force, the unit is fucked and will no longer function properly, i.e. it won't close nor play anything anymore. I had to return mine for an exchange. So, you better have good extended warranty from where you buy this changer-unit. Of course, it will only play cd/cdr/cdrw/vcd/dvd formats. No svcd. I dont have dvd-r/rw nor any of the other stuff to test out. Just be aware and be very careful of that tray. Otherwise, this is a decent unit.

CVD? $150 N/A 8 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: This DVD player has been great to me. My only complaint is that it does not play SVCD. Granted, doing the header trick, I can get it to play SVCD. Now everyone says it plays DVD-R, but I can't get it to play. The guy who sent me the DVD-R said it was DVDpro media. The DVD-R does work in my Apex-1200 though. Anyone know why it does not work in my Sony?

MP3 WMA CVD? $150 N/A 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: I don't understand the complaining about this model. It was only $149 on sale at Best Buy. Even at the regular $249 it is an excellent 5-DVD changer. The picture quality is every bit as good at the single DVD "ES" model I have been using. I have been able to create XVCDs on just about any CD-R media that I find on sale without issue. I had to do a little work to figure out the process but now it works great. Use TMPGEnc to create SVCD. Lower bitrate to fit on one 800MB CD. (Usually 700-900). Use TMPGEnc MPEG Tools to re-multiplex and rewrite headers as Automatic MPEG-1 file. Burn that file using Nero or VCDEasy if you need chapters... The end result is SIGNIFICANTLY better than that best VHS I have seen. It is not DVD quality but damn good for a single CD movie.

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Owners of this model who are unable to play VCD's and get the "C:13" error should try burning at the slowest speed first. 4X worked for me, while 24X didn't with the same media.

CVD? $199 N/A 7 of 10 Comments: I was able to get this player to recognize SVCDs when they were burned using the TMPGEnc header trick exactly as outlined on this page: http://www.geocities.com/newestmoviesencode/dvdvcd played very nicely, seemingly with full SVCD resolution. Burned on TDK 80Min CD-Rs (silver) and FujiFilm 80Min CD-Rs (silver) with no problems. In fact, the only playing problems I've had with this player were with commercial DVDs I rented at Blockbuster. It's played my custom video CD-Rs and custom audio CD-R/Ws like a champ.

DVDdecrypter works much better at backing up your DVD colection.

CVD? $225 N/A 5 of 10 Comments: I have tested my new Pioneer DVDR-A03 with 3 different media and all failed to work on my Sony DVP-NC600. Media used: Generic (cheap) DVD-R 4.7gb Gold, CompUSA branded DVD-R Pink, and Memorex DVD-RW (light blue. I used Prassi PrimoDVD 2.0 to record. My DVP-NC600 player fails to recognize that a disk is even present in all three cases. However, each of these disks will play on my computer's non-recording DVD-ROM drive. I will take a disk to the store to see if it can be played on another machine. I have read at several other sites that the Sony should play DVD-R and another reviewer here even mentions that identical media played on his player worked (Memorex DVD-RW). Not sure what is wrong - I will follow up later.

CVD? $225 N/A 7 of 10 Comments: This DVD Player came with a Sony Home Theater package I recently purchased. It plays VCD & XVCDs (up to 2500kbs) very nicely. I have not tried anything higher. It also plays ATI RADEON AIW captures in VCD & SVCD mode; however, I must use DVD2AVI and TMPGenc (non-compliant VCD) mode then burn with NERO in non-compliant mode in order for MPEG2 (SVCDs) to burn correctly. Otherwise audio is out of sinc. Also, something I just found out: it plays JPEG files. I don't believe you can zoom in, but it plays them like a slide show. I don't think it will allow folders for the JPEGs. Just burn with NERO as a VCD. Oh, by the way the 5 disc player plays, audio cds and most importantly dvds very nicely. Now if I could get the damn thing to play MP3s; I wouldn't have to buy a Daewoo or APEX. I probably would of bought something else if it didn't come with the home theater package.

I also frequently get the message that the disk is dirty (not with DVDs) despite the fact it is freshly burned or cleaned.

I have test the last two media DVD-RW and DVD+RW both media works .. using A Pioneer A03 with DVD-RW media and HP100i with the DVD+RW media both works grate, .. so to recap.. CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD+RW all works on low cost CD-R(W) and DVD-R(W) media, however for DVD+RW I have to spend over $15 for the media and $2 for the DVD-R, $3.50 for the DVD-RW media. go to www.pricewatch.com for latest prices.

CVD? $225 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: Good player, yes it is basic but what it does have works well. Plays DVD+RW without any problems as well as CD, CDR and CDRW. I didn't get about MP3 since the quality is only good for car or walkman, not home stereo. Agree with the comment on standby button although if you push the power button a couple of times I have been able to get it into standby without the remote.
