N/A 5 of 10 Comments: This unit does not seem to like PAL disks. I have only tried two so far and it spits them out. (one was a pressed DVD - all regions) This unit will not play any CD-R that I've tried, music or VCD formats. It will usually play CD-RW disks - Music (including DTS CD via S/P-dif) and VCD. It seems to like the high speed CD-RWs better (Memorex 8x-10x silver-grey disks used) It will also play the "low speed" Cursor CD-RWs but it doesn't like them if they have been used for a prior recording. I have also played one DVD+R with standard DVD content (Memorex 4x 4.7GB) on with out problem. (only one tried so far) I gave this unit to my Dad so I do not use it much. I don't remember the price I paid as it was a while ago that I got it.

N/A 5 of 10 Comments: a good dvd player, if that's all you want it for. Awful if you want to listen to mp3, or watch anything else. So far, it won't take any of 20+ brands of cdr, or traxdata rw. i've yet to try it with dvdr, but i'll be doing that soon.

N/A No rating Comments: Burned a few custom DVD-R videos, created using DVDMaestro 2.9, then burned with Nero 5.5.9.0. Originally, the player would sit on the load screen for a few seconds, then eject the media. I attributed this to the media type, so tried a few different media brands. I also found out if you press play while it is on the load screen, it sometimes starts up. Then I thought to maybe try cleaning the lens, and used the Scotch CD/DVD lens cleaner kit - the one with the small brushes on the bottom of the CD. Now the player accepts all DVD-R media I have tried. In summary: DVDPro DVD-R $1: no problems Verbatim DVD-R $4: no problems Apple DVD-R $5: no problems If you have problems where the player ejects the media, try a lens cleaner, and also try hitting play successively while it is on the load screen.

CVD? $150 N/A 6 of 10 Comments: CD-RW: yes: 4x no: 2x Audio yes, VCD choppy CD-R: able to recognize almost all, plays most audio, very few VCD format DVD-R: light purple dye: movie disc played initial splash screen, then ejected (only 1 disc tested so far) DVD-RW: read TOC Ok, played movie files choppy i agree with the others, remote sucks, even when you get familiar with it. It does play dual-layer discs unlike my Samsung 907.

N/A 7 of 10 Comments: I have had this DVD player for a while now. It plays all DVDs I have thrown at it except really, REALLY scratched ones. The remote sucks. It is impossible to use in a room lit only by a TV. It plays VCDs alright. I have experienced OK quality o some, but I think that is a source matrial problem. It will not play SVCD or XVCD, but I have not done extensive tests. VCD load time is about 2-3 minutes. When you try a SVCD/XVCD it spits it out still spinning, which might hurt if if I try anymore SVCDs :-). I got this thing as a present, and it works well for a DVD player. But if you want a muliple format player, this IS NOT for you. -Chris CMP1223

A very rare config, but nice.

CVD? $134 N/A 6 of 10 Comments: I have tested this for CDR compatability and it works with Datasafe blue-bottom 80min media, but there is a lot of stuttering. I have tested cdrw's and i find branded ones like TDK and Samsung give best performance, cheap-ass media is no good. So far all the RW's i have tested have been silver layer but I am going to test it with some different colours as soon as I get hold of some. I have tested for SVCD compliance but no luck so far - I have tried with silver layer CDRW only though. If you can get SVCD to work on this player let me know.

N/A 7 of 10 Comments: I have got some VCDs to work but it took SOOOOOOOO long to load, and even longer to play. I think it was because of the cd I was using (memorex 1-4X cd-rw). In this site it says that this DVD player works with silver layer cd-rw, so i'll try those soon.

N/A 6 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD Comments: Some CD-RW capability. Have had success with JNL (though recent batches not as good as old ones) and AVALON (80% work). These are both silver layer. The XVCD capability appears to be limited. It succeeds with the TMPEG so called 'illegal' format using 128k sound and higher video bitrate. Further than that it appears to be unreliable.
