CVD? $? 180 days 5 of 10 DivX XviD Comments: I do not own this DVD Player, my brother does. I just wanted to state that it DOES SUCCESFULLY READ at least some DVD-R dvds. I burned a RIDATA DVD-R at 8X with my NEC-3540a and my brother is able to play the movie.

CVD? $? 60 days No rating Comments: An internal component (4-pin s.m.d.) located near a corner on the main board adjacent to the power supply becomes very hot after a few minutes of playing time. Granted some electronic devices these days are designed to operate at high temperatures, but when such components are enclosed in a case with no method of cooling & run for long periods, they raise the ambient temperature & this in turn causes them to run even hotter until eventually they "break down." In my opinion the SL40 circuitry may well prove to be a good example of "inbuilt obsolescence."

CVD? $? 90 days 6 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-JPG DivX XviD Comments: The player just lose the red colour sometimes. It seems it doesnt like those burned on DVD+/-R on my computer, but they are my movies! The lose of red is very annoying and creates strange faces and moves

CVD? $80 1 days No rating JPG/JPEG DivX MPEGISO Comments: For some reason, when playing MPEG movies from an ISO 9660 disc, it leaves a filename OSD. Can't seem to be able to remove it. Better off burning a non-standard VCD if re-encoding the MPEG is not desired.
