CVD? $400 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: My burner is Pioneer 106 and I have loth's of problems with my backup-movies. I burn them with Nero 6 or RecordNow and the last chapters of my movies are always (7 out of 10)corrupt. Music hangs, image splits up in blocks and sometimes the movie or the player just stops playing. I tried with DVD-R and +R the same result. If I play the same movie on a friendsplayer or on a PC everything works fine. I mostly use budget -R and +R from platinium or Princo. But for rented or bought movies is the player very good. The region free trick works fine. If somebody has the same problem and found a solution let me know.

N/A No rating Comments: I product authoring DVD-R or DVD-RW with Pioneer 103 ; Sometimies, I have a short stop (2 sec) of frame and music. The same DVD goes welle on Philips reader ! The blocage on Samsung is depending only of gravage (and never at the same time if I begin other gravage). I use today only DVD-RW (not DVD-R than can works best ?). I write in VBR and looks very few difference between 4000000-5200000 B/s and 4000000-6500000 B/s RJL20021027

CVD? $300 N/A 7 of 10 Comments: Very good image and sound quality compared to e.g. Mustek and Denver (RGB scart out, optical out). Normalization of black levels is very good. Sound compression is also very practical by night... Slow to detect disk though.

DVD burn mode: UDF/ISO (using Nero o InstantCD/DVD) DVD Playback Compatible with DVD-R media: That's write (100%) Princo (50%), ADM (50%) DVD Playback Compatible with DVD-RW: Pioneer (2X, 100%), MAGNEX (1X, 100%) CD-R: all CD-RW: it depends on "luck" :)

MP3 VBR 512kbit/s WMA CVD? $300 N/A 8 of 10 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: Slim and nice looking player, have every output at the rear you can imagine and double scart slots. Remote is a bit unusual for a DVD, looks more like a video remote with jog/shuttle features. Some buttons are not logical placed like "setup" but after a while I'm sure it will work fine. In manual and on box there are no mention of SVCD support but it does play them perfectly. It reads no-name CDR disks as well as Verbatim and Maxell burned (Nero) in VCD / SVCD / MP3 format (it does not support mpg/mpeg files). Mp3 menu are divide into folders and files and you can browse in folders while another track is playing. When a mp3 disk is feeded it will start play first track in top folder automatically so you don't have to switch on the TV just to play music. It don't remember last mp3 track played when power off, starts all over again. Not possible to change mp3 track with number pad on remote, only way is to skip one track at a time (or open the visual menu on TV). When playing DVD movies the volume is a bit low, I use analogue 2 channel output. Maybe it gets better when using digital/optical outputs? When set as region free it feeds region fixed DVD's, not like some players where one must change region to what that disk demands. If your looking for a High End DVD that looks nice and can be change to region free, feeds most formats then this is the one. There are other players at a lower price range that can do all this and some but quality costs money.
