CVD? $? over 1 year 8 of 10 JPG/JPEG MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: Very good player. Made & played a lot of VCD/SVCD disks. Works very great! This player does not care wich framerate or sound bitrate is on your disk. It just plays all of them. Plays even svcd with mpeg1 instead of 2. Plays mp3 nicely, only basic browsing and shows only short names. I switched to burning DVD+R movies. Player plays them very well. The only point is that when it finds an error it can't recover, it will skip to next chapter. And with some re-encoded disks the chapters can be long, so you miss a few minutes. Most movies played fine, some jumped. I did not try to find out why. I wanted to get a newer type, and had a really hard time finding one that is better than this type! (ended up with philips dvp-520, other ones played worse than old one)

CVD? $450 over 1 year 6 of 10 Comments: Bought this 3 years ago as my first DVD-player. Has played all but one media i have feed it with. A good DVD-player for beginner. Even Princo works. Still works good but is replaced with a better player because of DVD-audio and SACD is wanted.

Play MP3-CDs without problems - Memorex DVD+RW don't work ("no disc" after long load time) - Verbatim DVD+R (DataLifePlus) work fine (record at 8x (my DVD recorder is Nec ND-2500A) with DVDshrink 3.1 and Nero 6.3)

When I play it in VSC mode on the Samsung M205 it runs like 20 times to fast. Interval between foto's is too fast and the mp3 that i have added to accompanie the foto's plays way too fast to. Saw pauls remark......do you think this is a software problem to, rather then media problem?

Most of the VCD's I have created are from pictures into a slideshow.

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: I had this one for quite some time now, and I am verry pleased. It 's a bit scrach sensitive, but if you look after your movies that sjould be fine. One thing though. I recently bought a dvd writer from plextor, the first disks i bought (emtec dvd+r) didn 't work on it (no disk, after a long load). I really need the dvd 's I write on my Pc to work on this. So I would like to know wich type of media is the BEST for this standalone. N/A No rating Comments: I had some problems with some DVD-R which used be played jumping from a chapter to another one. Some DVD-r doesn't seem to be appropriate (no disc, infinite loading and so on). Today I discovered that Maxell DVD-R are good ones. Anyone knows other discs to be played correctly with Samsung 205? By the way, the old Samsung 709 is a technical miracle. It can play a great amount of DVD-R without problems at all.

Also tested DVD-SVCD and Menues / Movies are really good quality. Tested it with CD-R / DVD-R , DVD+R , DVD-RW (MP3-DVD does not play)

N/A 7 of 10 Comments: I bought this player from my friend with 100 Euros. It didn't play other regions than R2, so I removed the firmware EPROM, emptied it and programmed a new one in. The firmware version number is located on the sticker on top of the EPROM. Mine was 5.02E which cannot be hacked to play other regions. I programmed 5.02Ee which can be found from: http://www.709firmware.fsnet.co.uk/ Now my player plays all regions without any trouble. There's no random MP3 play and the player does show only the beginning of every song/folder name.

But there is a problem.. and I don't know if you guys have it also. When it plays mp3s, I hear sometimes some strange knocking sounds from my right speaker, and sometimes when it plays it skips, and it's happening with mp3cds. So what's wrong?
