CVD? $150 over 1 year 6 of 10 Comments: Considering that this player was built in the year 2000 it's recordable CD/DVD disc compatibility is very poor by modern standards. It also is not very tolerant of disc scratches compared to more modern player. However the remote is very ergonomic and easy to use in the dark. It is very difficult to hit the wrong key by mistake. The volume of the audio output of the DVD player can be adjusted by the remote. The front panel display is large and is easy to read. Although this player can only play pressed CD/DVDs and DVD-Rs, it's ergonomic remote makes me prefer it over my sony!

It sucks on playing Cd-r : I tried to play audio with these cd-r media: Maxell 74min XL 650MB HP Invent 80min / 700MB MB Media 75min / 650MB TDK Metallic 80min / 700MB TDK Reflex Ultra 80min / 700MB MMORE slimcase 80min / 700 MB none of them worked Then suddenly another Maxell similar to the first on the list only with a slimcase, did work. Don´t know why, perhaps different kind of burning routine was used back then when I created the disk. ? Cd-rw doesn´t work either. I created one svcd and one vcd cd-r but none of these worked. I´m really very curious about the matter because even though the front panel on the player doesn´t tell that it will play cd-r or svcd, many people have said here on the internet that their machines have had no probs with playing (s)vcd or cd-r audio.. I wish to know is there anything I can do about this.? Oh, and another thing I forgot to mention, my 611 is modified, does that affect to the way the machine behaves?

Mostly annoying but works. * Only first 8 characters in filename will show. * No random play with MP3's * "Overburned" SVCD's may freeze/hack after 40-45min. * Picture index when using picure slideshow in VCD format, does not work well (only first index page will show). Just skip index and slideshow will rum just fine (Only tried with Nero 5.5). * DVD movies from AVI files on DVD+R (Packard Bell) works.

N/A 7 of 10 Comments: It will play commercially purchased CDs and DVDs, but nothing else I've tried. I have burned CDRs and CD-RWs, and it will not play audio. I have also burned VCD 1.0, VCD 2.0, and SVCD on both CDRs and CDRWs, and it will not play any of them. Buy it if you want to watch your store-bought DVDs or listen to store-bought CDs. Get something else if you want to watch or listen to something you've burned yourself!!

I contacted Samsung about this player and even though the front of the unit says that it will play Video CD's - it will not play them!!! - AND they admitted this to me. They offered to take it back and send me an updated version for $50 - which I declined. So, they are sending me one for free!!! I suggest everyone that wants to use this player for video cd's call this number - 1-800-726-7864 and demand a new player. They will probably send a reconditioned model - but those are usually as good as the originals. Good luck.

N/A 1 of 10 Comments: This is the crappies dvd player I've ever had. It's a marble it plays dvd at all. I can never watch a movie without the random skipping. Only once has it played a vcd and that took an alignment of the stars to load. Tried using different cd-r and rw's to no avail. Spend your money on something else. On the plus side it makes a wonderfull paperweight.

But thats only a problem of the brand: With Platinum CD-R there were many Problems! I also tested TDK and Verbatim and the Problems were gone. So, when you use the right CD-R/CD-RW/DVD-R ... this player would play everything you want. Dont use nero for burning SVCD! Use CDRWin or CDRao (included in VCDEasy)

I used Ulead DVD WorkShop to author/burn Regarding DVD+RW : Doesn't play Philips DVD+RW or Verbatim DVD+RW. I tested this for mode 1 and mode 2 (DVD+RW or DVD-ROM bitsetting)

Finally succes on DVD+R: Made DVD Volume using Sonic's DVDIt 2.5 PE Then burned the DVD+R using NERO 5.5.9.0. Used Wizard, chose DVD-Video format Dragged the contents of Video_TS from the DVD Volume to the target Video_TS folder created by Nero Then chose NOT multisession Burned the DVD+R on Philips DVDRW228 Played well on the Samsung DVD611. So far, I tried Philips and Verbatim DVD+R blanks Using the above method and burning on DVD+RW (Nashua) had no success in the DVD611 Burning DVD+RW with DVDIt 2.5 PE also doesn't play in the DVD611

CVD? $125 N/A 1 of 10 Comments: Bought this bastard 1,5 year ago at Multi Direct in Sweden, changed it 3 times because it keept jumping/skipping when playing DVD´s, MP3 would not play at all. Sometimes it will not even play DVD´s. Wonder why they call it a DVD player...!! It´s a piece of crapp, DO NOT BUY! And by the way bought a Samsung portable phone which broke down after 1 year... I will never ever buy a Samsung product again, I learned my leason....

CVD? $200 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: I bought this bastard for 6 month ago (in sweden)just for the SVCD suport and boy 0 boy it eats all svcd Xsvcd i have feeded it whit and all damn cd-r brands cheep to good ( memorex, tdk, verbatin,silver, kodak, blue, and shityest grean-silver noname that i burned in 24X in my plextor ( it culd onley handel 8X it say on the packet) but hell samsung that hungrey bastadt just keep on spining =) ) one little problem i notice whit it is that some time it stall th epic for a sec or 2. and gets the audio out of synch, but easy sortet first test to pause and play again fast and it will find the righet possition again if that dosent help just stop it and press play again and it will restart at the stop possision and all fine. mp3 i have tested 2 times whit a cd -r were the mp3 was in a folder np at all its keep on playing that shit well. what i relly is interested in now is how it can handel DVD-R
