CVD? $? 2 days No rating Comments: I recently got this unit and it works great. It takes aprox 15 seconds to load a DVD, and it does play them quite well. DVDROM's do work (DVD +DL) with the latest firmware (April 16, 2009). The picture is great (Upscaling), and Blue-Ray looks really good. For the money, this is a good machine.

CVD? $? 30 days 5 of 10 DivX XviD Comments: Bad things about this player: * North American version does not play Divx or Xvid, even after latest firmware update from January 2009. * January 2009 firmware introduces glitches that make the player show a "snowy screen" at the boot menu near the bottom 10% of the screen. This is a bug and was not present in the old firmware. * The DVD Menu navigation is very slow, probably because it is built on top of Java and not native code. * The player takes a long time to recognize Blu-Ray and DVD discs. Time from disc insert to playing the movie could be a couple minutes at times, which is somewhat absurd. If these problems could be resolved in a future update, for the price it is marketed at, it would be a great buy. But until that time that a firmware upgrade fixes these issues, I would recommend that everyone stay away from the Samsung BD-P1500 player unfortunately...

CVD? $? 7 days 9 of 10 DivX XviD Comments: Had to update firmware using a USB stick (online and CD wouldn't work for me), but now this unit plays standard def XviD/Divx files (HD AVI files wouldn't work). Standard DVDs look great upscaled to 1080p, much better than my old DVD player. Not a bad unit at all, got it for £150GBP, with "I Am legend" and "Ocean's 13" from Amazon UK.
